Hey guys, I'm a level 11 Monk with a tough decision on what weapons to use (although its a nice problem because awesome people have given me these weapons)
Should I use my "Wu's Quivering Staff" (2H Blunt/ 23 DMG - 28 Delay - 9.0 Weight)
OR
Double "Cane of the Tranquil" (1H Blunt/ 11 DMG - 25 Delay - 2.5 Weight each)
Dual wielding looks cooler, but how do they compare? What about after I get Double Attack at 15?
Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

1hb to 20.
2hb 20-epic.
H2H/1hb epic-Velious.

Thanks for the tips! Im assuming the Wu's Quivering Staff will only get better and hit harder after I get level 20 since the damage cap will lift?

A quick and easy way to compare ratios between 1h and 2h weapons is to take the 1h weapons, add the dmg, and avg the delay. This gives you:
2hb: 23/28
1hb: 22/25
When ratios are close like this, you're usually better going with the 2hb since it has some extra benefits (DS hurts you less, you riposte harder, higher dmg bonus with slower 2h weapons, etc.)
So in this situation I'd say Wu's is slightly better, but it's close enough to allow for personal preference.
This hugely overstates 1H weapon damage since you don't DW every time. I think a L60 monk only dws 75-80% of the time and a L60 warrior about 65%.

however on the flip side, monks don't riposte at 11, i doubt he'll be fighting any mobs with a DS, and dmg bonus doesn't start really til later levels.

I agree. I like this quick and dirt way to compare though. I would say averaging the delays would be fine. But only add 2/3 of the weapon damage of the offhand.
So, adam club (15/25) /SoS (17/28) would be about 27/27 or (15+12)/27. I think this is close and compares favorably with a T staff, which I believe it should. Nice quick way to compare.
EDIT: so I guess applying this would mean 2 canes would be like 19/25 (as opposed to the staff being 23/28). My vote is staff is better.

Also melee damage is capped to 20 before level... 20. And in my experience melee dmg 1-19 looks something like weapon damage x2 (jade mace hits for 18 for example) // for max damage this is // So in this case the cane of harmony will have a max hit for 22, capped to 20 and a faster delay.. and since you don't have double attack yet it is absolutely better to dual wield until 20, then re-asses the situation. Following Clever's advice above. Also don't forget to keep your hand to hand reasonably level'd.. it's annoying but it's worth it.

2hb: 23/28
1hb: 22/25
Good theory but probably not very accurate
You won't be landing successful dual wields very often till your higher levels. So go with the 2hb till you get epic :)

After level 10 the 2hb isnt just slightly better, theres no comparison. I can tell you at 35 the staff still does more damage than a jm/kd combo. From the patterns i see they would probably even out around 45. get rid of the canes after level 10. find some trance sticks for 100pp just for keeping up your 1hb

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll make sure that my 2H Blunt (and even my H2H) skill is maintained for the switch when I hit 20. I've heard there's also a damage cap that is lifted at 10 but I think it's very minimal (after I hit level 10, I was hitting for 22 as opposed to 20 per hit), so I may test 2H Blunt but most likely I'll make the switch at 20. At 60, however, I will want to dual wield. Because it just looks so awesome :D

Youre correct. i had forgotten the cap between 10 and 20 is 26 now. used to be 40

At 60 you'll be dual wielding epic fist and SOS most likely, seems to be the consensus of easily achievable (read: non-raid) best dps.
