I first noticed this killing snakes in EC on Red. The darkweeds would try to pierce me. I said to myself, "self, this is wrong".

Much like the change to shaman pets, we should not have dragons or other NPCs that don't show a weapon wielding or even dual wielding them and therefore should not be proc'ing them.

If you examine the Legacy of Steel link, you'll see this Hoshkar had a Sword of the Shissar on him and was NOT slashing with it.

This creates extremely brutal scenarios given a certain spawn. Then again also if some mobs are charmed they would be able to incorrectly dual wield and proc weapons.

Further, and I am looking for the proof of this: summoned pets and npcs should be able to dual wield 2 handers. I clearly remember handing a friend's necro pet in Oasis dual scythes many times on live and that working. Stay tuned.

I have screenshots of my pet wielding two scythes from way, way back.

You're right about dragons not being able to wield. But it's definitely not as simple as humanoid or not humanoid, at least in the way I define humanoid (the bodytype parameter of the NPC). There's plenty of cases of NPCs wielding weapons beyond player races, frogloks, goblins.

We probably need to define the set of bodytypes that *can't* wield weapons to get it right. The obvious ones that I can think of are Animal, Insect, Dragon.

evidence of this has been posted numerous times but yet never seen an official response on this non-classic mechanic

Don't create duplicate bug reports.

Fix non-humanoid wielding weapons. Not entirely sure what this is based on. Currently on eqlive, a dragon model will crush you with a 1hb weapon.

i.e.

[Fri Apr 05 13:07:07 2013] Jen Sapara tries to crush YOU, but YOU parry!
[Fri Apr 05 13:07:07 2013] Jen Sapara tries to crush YOU, but YOU dodge!
[Fri Apr 05 13:07:07 2013] Jen Sapara tries to bash YOU, but misses!

[Fri Apr 05 13:07:11 2013] Jen Sapara tries to crush YOU, but YOU dodge!
[Fri Apr 05 13:07:11 2013] Jen Sapara was hit by non-melee for 451 points of damage.
[Fri Apr 05 13:07:11 2013] Jen Sapara was burned.
[Fri Apr 05 13:07:11 2013] Jen Sapara crushes YOU for 68 points of damage. Now, yes that is current and non-classic. But, I need to know specifically if it was changed since classic, or certain models use certain weapons, or certain class npcs will choose to wield weapons if they have them in their loottable regardless if they have claws or humanoid hands.

We had screenshots posted of Velious era NTOV dragons clawing with weapons on loot table, isn't that enough to establish it certainly shouldn't be occurring at this time point? Regardless I'll dig up evidence showing that it isn't until much later.

As per kanras' reply, it sounds like you need to wait or help him determine what was asked:

We probably need to define the set of bodytypes that *can't* wield weapons to get it right

If there is further evidence provided, it would be appreciated. Merging this with the other bug report.

How about start with obvious things like dragons and add to the list as we go?

More classic > less classic

And I fuckin' told you that we had necro pets wielding double scythes (farmed a lot of spectres and guards on dat RZ bruh)! Truth right there son! God bless those fucking images!!!

Frogloks and undead frogloks are humanoid... gotta start somewhere!

I'd be more interested in flagging the ones that should not first, rather than those that should.

So, can pets wield double scythes now or not? I has shown the truth. The light.

Animals, insects, dragons, and dragonkin (drakes, wyverns, wurms, etc.) can't equip items, pending update.
