Go to charname_project1999.ini and find the [Hotbuttons] section. Then delete the ones with the page/button combo that you had mapped to your pet window commands. I could be wrong, but I think the mapped values of the ones you want to delete are I1-I6.
If that doesn't work you can try this:
Locate the file in your everquest directory named <charactername>_project1999.ini and rename or delete it.
If that doesn't work, try renaming/deleting ui_<charactername>_project1999.ini.
Let us know which fixes resolved the issue, if it did at all.

Might depend on the order you did it in though. I don't think deleting just the ui_~ file will do anything. I edited the main post though.

Can confirm this, deleting both char ui files seems to work

deleting both files fixed my crashing issues (thanks godbox for posting it!) I had the hotbuttons for pet attack, follow, guard etc mapped to my hotbar prior to the patch.

I don't see more than 1 file in my directory, only one with my char name on it

If that's the cause of the crash, you don't need to delete your entire UI files. Go to charname_project1999.ini and find the [Hotbuttons] section. Then delete the ones with the page/button combo that you had mapped to your pet window commands. I could be wrong, but I think the mapped values of the ones you want to delete are I1-I6.

Then delete it and try to log in. (or rename it).

This fixed it for me. I wasn't going to delete the files. But I removed all Pet functions from hotbars and it was fine.

I just logged into Berty and didn't crash. If you've played that character on your PC atleast once, you will have files named after it. You must be searching the wrong place.

We are working on finding a more permanent fix for this issue but until then you can use the workarounds in the original post to resolve it.

this works. indeed do not delete all your ui and if you did, simply restore it. mapped values are correct. just erase I1-I6 and you should be good. leave them blank.

Ok we've updated the patch files, please re-download eqchangesv24 or re-run the eqemulauncher, and let me know if you were crashing before and it fixed it or not.
If one of you still have the INI file that was causing a crash, I'd appreciate it if you could put it back in place and try the new files. let me know.

Worked for me and a bunch of other pet classes that were logging in at the same time. Deleted both files, thank you all.

Do the folks who weren't crashing need to re-download the patch as well?

I noticed that if I went into my UI_name_server.ini file and deleted the [PetWindow] or something to that effect section, it seemed to fix the problem. I don't recall what it was called exactly, but I think that did the trick.
