Pretty sure the tarnished weapon combine that you used to melt down a Tarnished weapon + water flask into [small piece of ore/small brick of ore/large brick of ore] weren't added in until the blacksmithing tradeskill overhaul in 2002.

You're right, but unless they decide to completely revert to the classic setup and take all of those ores off of most vendors, I'm not sure this makes a huge difference. It allows you to save a little plat at the expense of extra combines, but that's about all. The combines themselves are not really significant in terms of skilling up.

Edit: By the way, the 'classic' vendor sell back price for Sheet Metal was only a little less than the purchase price - right around 1 plat. Think about that in relationship to the above...

but it is allowing most tarnished weaps to be converted to different sizes of ore...just 2 or 3 are borked. I wasnt playing back then so I really cant help out.

Not really sure what you're getting at. The vendors have nothing to do with recipes that shouldn't be in the game.

Sorry, was getting confused with MQ ore, which had limited vendor availability early on. You're right - it has nothing to do with this.

Uhm. This post is for removing them, not putting them in.

Good job Tarnished spear combine on being not in game like you shouldn't be.

It's a work in progress getting the old trivial list. As mentioned elsewhere, there's about 6 trivials that still need to be found. Also Fine Steel shouldn't take you to 248. As mentioned, all trade skills should be capping at 200, jewelcrafting only goes as high as it does here because no tradeskill caps were put place and it has the highest trivials in classic.

From the patch notes of September 19, 2000:

*Trade Skills Enhanced*

Many of the trade skills in game have received massive enhancements,
including dozens of new craftable items, new fishing and foraging
items, and other things to be discovered once in game.

In addition, trade-skill specialization has been implemented. Players
will be able to exceed 200 points of skill in ONE of the generally
available tradeskills. This includes:

- Baking
- Blacksmithing
- Brewing
- Jewelcraft
- Tailoring
- Fletching
- Pottery

Once above 200 points in one of these skills, no other skill will be
able to exceed 200. Specialization restrictions do not include class or
race-specific trade skills such as Alchemy, Make Poison, and Tinkering.
Players with race or class-specific trade skills will be able to exceed
200 points of skill in that skill, PLUS any generally available trade
skill.

Nice, I couldn't remember if spec was added in in the classic overhaul, or the Kunark updates. Good stuff.

Spoolie, you shall get your 248 smithing afterall! :D

Please make new threads for different topics.

This has nothing to do with Tarnished Weapon Conversion... and no one that reads the title will expect to find issues about banded trivials and fine steel.
