I distinctly recall in the days after 9-11 many players infused with a newfound patriotism. I remember on my live server, oasis of marr was packed with players hunting the sand giants. Enraged with ignorance and slaying anything with a turban and a beard.
I also remember logging into Battle.net Diablo II, and all the chat rooms were full of new accounts named KillBinLaden, FckIraq, etc. etc.

What severe shifts in patriotism in online gaming do you recall?

In UO we had a few events in rememberence of the events of 9/11, and moments of silence etc. Here are a few screen shots i could find.

It is odd and unusual to see the worrying spectre of Patriotism leaking into virtual worlds, though not altogether unexpected.
