Dragon charms?

Why is gorenaire/talendor/severilous using the dragon charm ability like its a castable ability? It's always been a rare proc on their melee attacks.

They are using it like any normal abilities right now. It also should be a proc in Veeshan's peak. I'm pretty sure that someone can log in eqmac and go aggro any of these outdoors dragon and it will not ever cast this ability on them until it procs it.

As far as my memory serve, I pulled all these dragons on live during 2000 and I never got charmed.

I got aggro'd once or twice on live by Gorenaire in dreadlands. She never, ever CASTED a charm on me.

Nizzar, who I have great reason to believe thus far is a actually classic player, recalls the same. It effects both servers.

4 zones eh? I don't know if that's a typo or if you really just can't count at a grade school level. Given your history I'd say the latter is more likely.

If they're killed immediately after spawning, and other guilds appeared not to know about them, and they clearly should not have been spawning at this point in the timeline, perhaps the appropriate post to be making is "gore/sev/tal shouldn't be spawning now", not, "can you please make these dragons easier for us even though we have no evidence to support anything we say". It makes me wonder if you guys intentionally didn't bug report it, but of course there's no precedent for that, right? ;)

Some people need to get over themselves already. Do you think we kept the dragons well fed and hidden in the corner so other people wouldn't be able to "see" them? How many people have been in EJ since launch? in Skyfire? in TD? Not many have been in Seb, but Trak was up for days before we killed him.

It has been no secret that they were killed after finding them up ~ to cry foul now just shows how far removed you are from what happens on the server.

In the logs I linked, there's no "Sev begins to cast a spell" message, and the charm resist occurs right after the player is meleed. Maybe it was different for the outdoor dragons than it was for the VP dragons? I really have no idea.

edit: actually, what probably happened is that the player ran away and was too far to see "Sev begins to cast a spell". Hence why they got summoned right after.

Faydedar doesn't charm, isn't a dragon (he's more of an ugly walking fish), and also was in the game at the beginning of kunark release on Live, so he is wholly irrelevant to every issue in this thread.

Ah notice this! Hoshkar is clawing and not slashing (he does carry a shissar sword in the kill, check link).

AKA: A giant snake who will drop a fang should not pierce.

However, a ghoul lord with yak should show it, slash with it AND proc it.

I'm sure I can't post a log of the frenzied ghoul with a belt and without, but on live there was a noticable difference.

That said, Hoshkar (and other non-humanoid types) should NOT quad if he has 2 weps OR proc them.

P.S. Watch out for Dragon charm in VP, charmed clerics have a nasty habit of CH'ing the dragon your fighting.

right now on p99, pretty much as soon as you're in casting range and have aggro'd a dragon, it instantly attempts(usually lands) to charm you

i recall on live running through dreadlands, aggroing gorenaire(vivid memory once of running right into her and getting melee'd and lived) without getting charmed

there's very, very little mention of these dragons charming people, so if they did charm(according to those logs, they must have) it must have been at a much, much lower frequency than we see now, otherwise people would have been talking about getting charmed from across the zone by gorenaire

I'm wondering if this was true:

Dragons could melee while casting a breath and dragon charm was an on hit ability? I am pretty sure I've seen logs where the proc shows a resist above the hit.

Shrug. I care more about endurance working 8).


Edit: One more good question. Should dragon charm indeed be a proc? And should they continue to proc it if they already have someone charmed and just take a new target? I think NPCs could charm multiple people. Again.. shrug due to above endurance concern :).

the first two could be up for debate whether or not i'm in range, but the third and forth ones show i'm meleeing the dragons and get charmed with absolutely no message; it's possible that in the hoshkar log from live, hoshkar is casting a different spell before he charms/melees/aoes?

Anything Hoshkar casted would have been seen as he gets meleed right after.

The cast message from hoshkar after his gate is either from dragon breath or charm... but 1 message so I doubt it can be both.

Let's see of we can find a "Talendor beings to cast a spell" or any other warrior dragon and what happens after in a classic log imo.
