I loved the PvP in guild wars and can't wait for more. The beta reviews seem really positive. I was impressed with NC Soft before, so I'm going to give it a whirl again.

GW2 is amazing from what I played of it. ~level 14

The game feels a lot different then GW. It has a lot more of the current MMO feel to it. Might just be me though.

PS: Secret World is also amazing.

Secret World got some mixed reviews. I'm gonna hit guild wars 2 pretty hard, so I won't have time for another game for a while. Were there any prefessions that seemed boring? Some guy wrote that a few, like necro, were boring. I was planning on being a necro:rolleyes:

Play it and decide for yourself. I didn't particularly find necro to be boring but only played one to lvl 17.

All play style. Necro is super tanky with damage. He is not really a nuker, but then again I only played to 14 on an ele.

Played in one of the last beta weekends, wasn't really impressed at all.

Frankly, I am done buying or preordering MMOs hoping they'll be the next big thing. Will wait at least 6 mo before i even begin to read reviews.

I have wasted so much money on "wow-killers" already.

Because no one can make a better damn mmo game engine then blizzard. Maybe if one of these developers focused on the engine and not everything else we would have a good game.

Agreed, the MMO with a better engine than WoW will probably be the actual WoW-killer. Closest thing to matching it so far has been GW2 imo, but that running through mud feeling I got killed it completely for me.

Watch it be Titan, then we get to deal with more of Blizzard's crap to play the best MMO.

Pretty sure Titan is going to be a more easier mainstream mmo. Blizzard can just keep updating the game engine like they do with every expansion and make the graphics more current. The only thing that could get old with wow is needing to target someone to attack, but doesn't look like that mmo game mechanic is going anywhere any time soon.

Also SWToR pretty much failed because of the piss poor modded hero engine. Ability delay because some animations last longer then the GCD?!?!! Like if you try to cast a instant spell cast before waiting for the last ability animation to complete it will just eat the GCD and not cast the instant spell. Even if you would make a block animation and casted before you waited for it to finish it would do the same thing. You gotta inhouse the game engine or shit like this will happen and you can't do anything about it.

Could the "running through mud feeling" be due to your PC? I hear the graphics are stunning in GW2.

GW 2 is a lot different from GW. GW wasn't an MMO, but had very good pvp and class balance. All the skills/spells were very carefully implemented and were not over or under powered. I think GW2 has a chance to raise the MMO bar a bit. I will find out next week on 8/25.

I have a pretty new machine and ran it at 60 fps without any hiccups. Was just the way the running felt to me.

I felt the same way. I don't know why they tried so hard to make the movement more "realistic" in terms of body physics when the game itself so arcade-y. Plus the fact that strafe uses the backward run speed instead of forward was pretty much the death knell for me in terms of PvP movement.

Personally I would really love to keep trying to level on this server but as a level 30 enchanter and knowing the trouble I am having finding groups I can see the writing on the wall.

I have about 15 friends going to play GW2 on Sorrow's Furnace server and I guess reluctantly I will have to join them. Hopefully I can find time to continue to progress on this server because I really do love EQ but I damn sure don't want to solo to 60.

this is scary, if a 30 chanter has trouble finding groups how is my poor mage going to fare? So anyone else.... are groups still easy as the levels come? I have had no trouble grouping in CB/Oasis/Unrest so far... TIA

On topic: through all the betas and stress tests I've found GW2 to be great fun if you enjoy PVP and don't want to spend your life on an MMO. Haven't really done much of the pve/instances and whatnot.

The pvp was amazing in GW, so I'm happy to hear it's still good. I'm gonna try the pve side as well. Hope to see you there.

I heard eqmac has lots of groups in the p99 dead zone (20-50).

Well, back on topic... I got to play GW2 tonight on the stress test event. I only had about 2 hours to play, but it was a lot of fun. I play an elementalist. It was a little overwhelming(with all the stuff to learn and do), but the gameplay was solid. I'm looking forward to this weekend.

Are you playing on red? Mistmoore always has a few groups going, highkeep has groups often, and loio always had several people in it.

Not sure why people are saying theres no groups from 20-50. There was 688ppl on the other night.

Nope I am playing on blue. I'm saying finding groups is hard because there may be 10-15 people in a zone like LOIO or Frontier Mountains at one time. Which most of the time equates to 1 group in the zone with the rest soloers or people being power leveled. On occasion you can get lucky in get one of those group and you hope it doesn't split in 30 minutes but you never know.

I'm a lvl 31 enchanter and have been playing for 3 weeks now and I have over 5 days played on my character so far. I've been in 1 upper guk group in my low 20s, 2 groups in LOIO all through my 20s and so far have found 2 FM giant groups.

You can put your lfg tag up and go 4-5 hours without a single tell or if you are lucky you might get a mistmoore invite but when you are bound in FV no one is going to wait for you to travel by boat to get there.

Every time I group with people I add them to my friends list so I can constantly try and build my own groups but I find as I keep progressing those people stop logging on and leveling. I guess people play multiple alts.

I've even tried random tells to people in my level range to build groups but that is also fairly difficult.

The best bet to finding groups I would say is to join one of the lower level guilds and try and form guild groups. That may end up being the route I have to take. I personally was trying to hold off on joining a low level guild because I wanted to raid at max level and didn't want to be guild hopping.

So in short, finding groups is difficult but not impossible. I'll keep trudging along and eventually hope to have a solid friends list to adventure with.

I played the game non stop for about 8 hours today. I had a blast. I had no crashes or bugs. There is a bit of a learning curve, but that's to be expected. On the other hand, it's not hard to just start questing and killing stuff. Most of the servers were pretty full, but there were some that were not. I played on a server listed as high population and had no lag or problems.

this game p tight, has some interdasting abilities in combat, i like how the questing goes it rly doesn't seem like muhc a grind have to see how it goes, but truly is like 1 of 2 mmo's in 10 years that is def not a wow clone

Wow, this game turned out to be such shit. It looked shiny on the surface and was actually really interesting for a couple of weeks, but then the enormous gaping flaws started to show. No endgame, low-quality content, boring gameplay... it's just a discount product. It felt like being given a low-quality product, like that feeling when you're holding a cheap knock-off and you can just feel that it's crap even though it has all the general features of the thing it tries to mimic. I like a lot of the systems and mechanics of GW2, but the gameplay and content is just awful, and ANet show no signs of having the slightest clue how to run an MMORPG.

world of warcraft 2 is confirmed going back to vanilla roots with a world pvp system, battle grounds style item gains built into the world with no instances, and a seamless transition to 'battle areas' such as warsong gulch, which is more of an ongoing battle, some old favorites are back (naxxaramas), and some new foes. There will not be a talent or tier system, but more of a specialization based on race and class(think priest early days). The racial animosity is back full swing, orcs vs humans is going to be a predominant theme on fighting for world bosses, think your favorite classic wow dungeons no longer instanced, on a 12-36 hr spawn time.

From the word-of-mouth I've been hearing about GW2 I'm glad I decided to buy Rift instead. It was a toss-up between the two and for a brief while I was actually going to get GW2.
