I had not played in a long while. Before Uth left. Good riddance honestly. He had been a jerk* just about on every occasion. Server crash and died from crash, not being near any mobs ... Logged on after submitting the petition my character was rez'ed but standing next to a KoS mob. Got a tell "Uth tells you: gtg?" and before I can respond he had logged. Another petition later he informs me he cannot rez because it was not due to a bug or something.

That was just one incident with a staff member. The other one came when I got stuck on the monk shackle quest. The quest stopped right before the good shackle. After searching a bit on the forums and Allah of when the quest was put into the game I sent a staff member a question about the quest. The response was something like "why would I know". That urked me the most because of who the message was from.

So I stopped playing mostly because of the borked quest. However I would visit the forums from time to time. Whenever an opportunity presented itself I would let my frustrations out about the staff not exactly being polite or even decent....IE someone else would make a post and I would go over the key points of the last 2 paragraphs. No insults were said ... just the overall lack of professionalism was pointed out.

Back 3 months ago. I wanted to come back. Go to log in and my account is now banned. I make a petition asking the reason and no response yet. 3 whole months and not a word of why. Here lately I had been trying anything to get their attention anyway I can. PMs, IRC, anything...even tried AIM. Each time I'm either ignored or given 1 word answers then ignored. So... no idea why I was banned. Probably for insulting staff which I made damn sure I didn't ... at least not blatantly.

Are all experiences with the staff like this? Would have been out 3 months ago but the most the **players are good people and I don't play with staff members so why let one or two people ruin a good thing.

*he isn't staff anymore...insult implied

May have been a jerk, but at least he was a jerk to everyone and was a decent enforcer. He kinda melted down later on though.

How did you contact this staff member? I hope you didn't petition or /tell them in game to ask about a quest.

just the overall lack of professionalism was pointed out.

This isn't their profession.

An in-game petition, or via the petition forums? Have you bumped it at all? Did you use any 3rd party programs at all, even on other servers?

Are all experiences with the staff like this?

I've never had a bad experience with any staff member, even with Uthgaard. He was abrupt and short when I petitioned about a weird speed exploit I stumbled onto, but that doesn't bug me.

Welcome to the world of private servers. It's like the old saying goes "you get what you pay for" and that is nothing!

Not that it gives me any special treatment but back when I first found the game I donated just about every month I played.

You get no benefits on this server for donating unlike other private servers (not that it's a bad thing).

I actually liked UTH, but I never had to deal with him in a raid setting. I did see what he had to put up with during his GM events, and I could see how the immaturity of people would cause him to lose it. His post-leaving meltdown on the forums tho...those were intense.

I miss the GM events he used to run. Really brought life to the server.

As for being randomly banned when you came back, UTH left during the time when there were a lot of issues with third party programs. So if you left before he did, and you used ShowEQ or something, then that would be why you were banned. Especially if you still have it installed. Logging in with it activated today will get you a perma ban...if they still have the detection software running.

Was still active when he left. I didn't notice the ban until 3 months or so ago. Also I remember the whole 3rd party mass temp bans ...I was not part of those. Really I honestly believe I was banned for posting on my experiences with staff.

I've had nothing but positive interactions with staff in-game, even ol' Uth.

I suspect that maybe the OP is a bit entitled and overly sensitive. I mean, a broken quest made you quit for months and hold a grudge that you let spill onto the forums? You need to be reasonable and learn to exercise some patience or life will just be an unbearable series of aggravating circumstances, let alone P99.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

You just gotta know what your getting into when you put a lot of time into private servers. It may shutdown without warning or they may crash and not have proper backups in place. Play and have fun but don't get attached because when that glitch happens and you lose all that time you put into the game you won't get so mad about it.

That's just you being paranoid. No one gets banned in-game for what they post here.

Think you maybe misunderstanding. I never "quit". I took a break until a quest was fixed OR until population began to rise again. Lets not make this personal.

Mostly just problems with staff. The quest isn't really an issue. It probably just wasn't in the game yet.

Well then p99 is giving you what you want on every level. A classic EQ experience even down to the GM support!

I just want to add that every time I have seen any staff member, including Uthgaard, being a dick to someone, they were being a double dick to the GM. One time, Uth was putting on a GM event in Timorous Deep to see who could catch the most zone-specific fishing items, and some jackboats kept killing all the fishing vendors Uth spawned so we could equip ourselves. All his response was, was to type in all caps, "STOP KILLING THE VENDORS OR THIS EVENT IS OVER." I would have death touched the harassers, summoned them to the middle of the ocean farthest away from any shore, and /told them "Don't mess with my good times." Bring back Uthgaard and bring back GM events!

Nope.

As long as you have no direct interaction with staff? This server was wicked awesome when I first started. Only bad experiences are from direct interaction with staff members or from some of the folks on the forums. Neither of which directly affect my ingame experience. Think this go around I may do everything possible to avoid staff/forums ;)

You sound like a whiner. If I was a GM, I wouldn't help you either.

The one time I had a legit bug cause me to lose money in a trade, they restored the money and fixed the bug within a week. Try being more courteous and not so abrasive to someone when you're asking for their help.

Not trying to make it personal, but he has a point. If you aren't getting good service, first look at how you asked for it. If you weren't the most courteous, you probably won't get help. If you are, then your chances increase, especially since the GMs here don't get paid (legally....). They're doing it because they love the server.

Also, put a petition in the Petition forum if you want answers. Doing it in-game or via /tell won't get you anywhere. So try that, and try to be as nice as possible. Bump it (if that's possible?) every once in awhile if they haven't responded. Just be nice and who knows, maybe you'll have a better experience with the staff :D

Psst, you actually made it personal when you assumed and implied the staff banned you for expressing your opinions here.

And honestly, I think the problem here is yours, personally. Just observing your responses in this thread alone, you come off as entitled, overly sensitive and yeah, kinda whiny. I suspect if you've had negative experiences with staff it's because you, personally, lack tact. Perhaps you are just mildly autistic. That's okay if you are, just understand that it will be more difficult for you to communicate with us normal people.

Good luck and God bless!

Petition has been there for 3 months. Gonna openly admit I express frustration when being frustrated. Doesn't everyone? The most I've gotten to say personally to staff members so far is "Have a moment?" and the answer has not changed from "No". Nilbog and Amelinda tried to help ... but the issue is above them or they were otherwise incapable. I totally appreciate their response. I in no way mean all members of staff are not decent.

Big thanks to those two for the few helpful words.

When you ask for help from busy people, you need to do it through the right channels and with adequate patience. How did you ask for help? PM on the forums or /tell in game is a big no no if you actually want help.

Have you bumped your petition yet? Did you even read my response?

Did you use any 3rd party programs, even on other servers?

Bump it every other day. Months into the petition I PMed some staff. Tried IRC but no help there. No 3rd party programs besides WinEQ and Shiftwindow.

I saw your petition and I don't lift bans. I do respond to some, and do some research as to why they were banned/post on that thread so Sirken can go back and look at them and make the final decision, since I haven't been told I have that authority to lift them. Kinda help speed up the process type thing while doing other things in my off time, or find out reasons why people were banned by whoever/for whatever reason.

I saw yours and how you interact with people and moved on to the next person.
