Hello everyone :D
Basically i was thinking about rolling up here rather than p99 blue and wanted to know if toons like rogues and rangers can survive in a pvp eq world just as well as say shammies and mages? Reason i ask is im used to playing rogue type toons and although they're alright as group toons, the population isnt exactly huge. Would the lack of soloability be a hindrance on the server?
Btw im from progression, had a 64 beastlord before my sub ran out lol, figured id try red as it has faster xp leveling, not to mention pvp which im all for :P So hopefully when servers come up ill see some of you in there! When i figure out what class to roll... hehe
PvP as a rogue here is like pvp with a rogue on any other pvp server. Rangers do just fine.

If your main goal is pvp then a rogue isn't going to suit you till velious, a ranger has more leeway.

Fixt.
Melees become much more viable in kunark. They are hard to play with the custom resist system because you need MR in every slot to reliably resist CC spells. Melee are always harder than caster because when things go bad, there is no gate spell, and like i said, eventually you will get rooted and die.
Melee are excellent in group pvps.

My biggest experience with PVP was during Kunark. I can say that hybrid classes like a ranger and a SK had a huge advantage with snares. If a rogue could land a slowing poison it was usually game over for casters. This of course all changes at max level, but generally SKs and Rangers were scary business. Get teamed by a druid with any melee class and you were in for some hurt.

Ranger track is pretty outstanding in pvp. I very much under valued it before I started playing here and running around with a ranger all the time. Rangers are able to sort their track by proximity and track a large area, its pretty good to know when people are moving towards you or if they are not moving and just xping and ignoring you. When you get high end bows you can out range casters with bow shots which is pretty cool. Ranger melee dps is pretty mediocre when compared to rogues and monks but get some half decent 2h weapons for jousting in pvp action.
Rogues gets awesome dps with kunark, but rogues pretty much require groups to level and pvp is challenging b/c you have almost no utulity just alot of dps. That said rogues are pretty uncommon here and for pve reasons could be highly sought after in kunark(locked doors and magic immune npcs and great group dps). Rogues are much better pvp when rolling with a group as well which presumably you will be most of the time as a rogue.
