.RAW Video Format

So I have some .raw video files from a customer that we need to be able to either playback or convert to another format. They are from video camera's that record to a server. They have an application they are using to stream these video files straight from the server but the application only seems to work by selecting the time/date and playing it from the stored data, which only goes as far back as 2 weeks.

We had to pick out a section of files to save from being purged after 2 weeks and need to be able to watch them.. but I'm not sure what software can play it or convert it.

I've tried googling the hell out of it and trying a few things, but no luck. Most of the references to a .raw extension are in the context of still images, not videos.

Anyone have any ideas?

can also try various VLC player codecs, they are mostly open source and include a lot of different formats.

Still checking for you though! Even though it is video, it very well could still be images taken in rapid succession, so you still might be dealing with images. What device is used to take the video?

yeah all i can find so far, i suggest VLC player and download every codec you can find for it.

How large is the filesize? I mean is it obviously "uncompressed" or does it seem to be small enough to probably be some kind of compressed video format?

Is it possible that the .RAW extension is just an arbitrary extension the software renames it to make it seem proprietary? I've come across instances where I was unable to find info about a specific file extension, only to find out that the file is ACTUALLY something more common just renamed with an extension to make it look proprietary.

Seems silly I know, but possibly worth a shot :o

VLC Player would probably be able to read the file regardless if this is the case though, as long as it has the actual codec like Caridry mentioned.

VLC Base doesn't seem to play it.. are there codecs I should try installing?

MPC Isn't able to play it.

Also tried Winamp.

Tried a few conversion utilities I found on the net, none of them worked.

The file size is about 55 MB per 10 minute segment.

Am I wrong to assume you have the Combined Community Codec Pack installed? I dunno if it plays RAW or not, but it's handled just about everything I've ever come across.

Yea I have CCCP Installed, it's what my MPC came in. Still nadda :( This is pretty odd.
