The spell currently costs 1000 mana. It should cost 875 mana.

I think this spell was changed a few times before it was left alone at 875mana for 1260 dmg.
I think it was 854 damage orginally. See your first link, look what it says for damage in the actual description of the spell =)
Between kunark release and velious release this spell was messed with a few times.
The spell should also be 0 resist adjust, it was changed to -10 resist adjust in 2002 in what I call the great wizard fix of 2002, which changed nearly every wizard spell from 0 to -10 resist adjust. This spell was always zero until that point.

Well I'm confused about this. First of all, I didn't play a wizard on live so I have zero memories about this. The only informations I have, I got them from old sites / boards.
Now, I saw that "854 damage" entry in the spell description. But, 854 is exactly how much damage Supernova (level 49 PBAE) does. Could it be a copy / paste mistake? Note that the "Actuals Effects" entry is correct (1260 dmg)...
The thing is I don't see any other site saying Winds of Gelid ever did 854 damage. And, let's suppose Winds of Gelid ever was 854 dmg / 875 mana, then it would make it the exact same thing as Supernova (http://www.angelfire.com/or2/Wizards/myztic.html). That would be surprising.
I am also confused by another post you made on the subject (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=38129) saying the spell always did 1260 dmg...
Between kunark release and velious release this spell was messed with a few times.
I've never seen anything about this spell in the changelogs. But I'm not sure spell changes are ever listed there.

Ok Here is the deal, this was a mistake on my part, sort of. Please allow me to explain.

Look at this link from graffe, scroll down to Tuesday March 7, 2000. Second post of the day shows a link to Spdat file data gathered from test. Which says " Winds of Gelid - Point Blank cold AoE hitting for 854 to each mob. Large radius."

So here is your conformation from a second source that it was at first 875 mana for 854 damage.
This spell was meant to be the cold conterpart to Supernova, initially it was meant to be an exact counterpart, meaning same mana/damage.
That would be surprising.
Not at all, you gotta understand this is how they viewed wizards back then. The power of our spells was never the fact that they did more damage, but that we had an arsenal for almost any situation ( meaning resist type ) while other classes were stuck with one or two lines, that were close to our ratios. Crazy I know, but thats how they envisioned Wizards. I played during this time, but I think I dinged my wizard to 60 after velious so I never used WOTG during kunark.
NOW.... I beleive beforeor very close after Kunark was released to live, WOTG was changed to 1260 damage for 1000 mana, because someone did eventually realize, hey, this is 10 lvls higher, it should do more damage. It was then changed again, at some point between Kunark and Velious to lower the mana down to 875. I do not know where to find this information, I dont even play here anymore and dont have a lot of time to research it all, im sure it's out there however.
So yes, I think the mana should be lowered to 875 by now, getting back on track to your OP.
The people here at p99 have both the original SPDAT files for Kunark AND Velious. comparing the two will tell some of the story.

That is correct.
The issue is I am almost certain the spell was changed mid kunark or earlier. Almost all sites we have linked pre-velious but post kunark show 875 mana for 1260 damage.
The velious SPDAT files only shows what WOTG was at release, it doesnt mean it was changed at velious release.
I beleive this is enough information to conclude that as of p99's current timeline, the spell should do both 1260 AND use 875 mana.
