Supreme Court just screwed everything up :) States can't be forced to participate in medicaid the way the feds want them to, and the individual mandate is unconstitutional per commerce clause but is OK per taxing.
Wtf happens now?
This is better for Romney and worse for Obama than people think right now.

State laws withstanding, yes. This is a huge overreach and gives the government the power to force us to basically do anything they want. "Buy American cars or pay a tax". "Buy firearms or pay a tax". "Buy low sugar, low fat foods or pay a tax"
And this is the best part:
Obama: "This is not a tax"
Supreme Court: "This is a tax"

i dont give a fuck about either of those shows. i watch neither. i don't care if someone is conservative or liberal because they're essentially the same thing in the united states of amerikkka.
all i said is that you're just repeating something you saw on television. i don't care about your political leanings. i find your primitive brain amusing. and it isn't critical thinking if you're just repeating something you saw on a television show.

you guys are all retarded
conservative just means "small government"
liberal means "big government"
There is no "conservative" party anymore.
They are referring to government spending. Not the ethical sense of the term.
Hitchens
06-28-2012, 07:05 PM
Conservative does not mean small government because conservatives are industrial protectionists. They are also fine with federal coercion if the coercion falls in line with their philosophy.
I think it would be more accurate to say there is no classical liberal party anymore.
jjgerman
06-28-2012, 07:11 PM
conservative""""" spending = lower amount
liberal """""""spending = higher amount
its not that complex.
Whatever the media has led people to believe these terms mean, is irrelevant. Or what people are in what party.
Look at the bottom line.
Who is spending what.
If you believe a crippled 8 year old is in the NFL, be my guest .
Just trying to learn ya some wisdom---

Conservative spending is not a lower amount, conservative rhetoric is simply about lower spending. Both major parties have absolutely no problem with government spending, they only disagree with what it should be spent on.

few people realize that conservatives are considered liberal.. and democrats ultra liberal in the classical sense lol
I think libertarians are the closest thing america has to conservatives.. not they would ever win an election.
their beliefs don't generally appeal to the big money politics of the time.
It's pretty much two groups arguing that their goals deserve to have taxpayer money spent on them.. while the opponents goals are an injustice against taxpaying americans.
not that i'm against taxes for fixing potholes or paying for traffic lights.. but half the shit both republicans and democrats pay for is unnecessary.

FYI it's just a coincidence if Fox was saying what I'm saying. The internet is erupting with the same thinking all over the place. You think it all stems from a cable news channel?
What they're not saying is what I'm most concerned about: the precedent this sets. This case will be used to judge future cases, and the court just gave the government the power to do almost anything it wants by taxing. So what if it can't use the commerce clause? It can just impose a tax. Want to force the people to buy something? Penalize them with a tax, the Supreme Court allows it.
It's the precedent that's the problem here, and it's not being talked about.
Since this is a "tax" will the (taxed enough already) TEA party finally revolt?? I got some wal-marts to be lootin
Through the vote, through the vote. It started in about 2009 and it will be ramped up in the next few months. This is seriously angering a lot of people.
Know what else is not being talked about? What the medicaid decision means. States don't have to add all these new low income people to their medicaid rolls now. That was going to be accomplished by penalizing them for not complying but that's not allowed now. States can just say "no", and then what?

The TEA party isn't against taxes.. they are just against taxes that go to programs they don't agree with.

Can someone explain to me why anyone in the middle class would not want affordable health care? Health care for my family would cost me about $1k a month through my company. I would rather have my taxes increased. There is no way they are going to tax me 1k a month.
Is it not in a country's best interest to have healthy people that can live long and have children that will all grow up and be paying taxes back into the system? How can I work hard, live long and pay my taxes if I am not healthy?

I'm no healthcare law expert or anything.. but it can be crazy expensive if you have pre-existing conditions
my brother's wife has had diabetes from birth and he is always complaining about how his health insurance costs about the same each month as his house payment.
there are examples out there which I don't care to dig up atm.. i do remember reading about how having health insurance doesn't even lower your medical bills sometimes.
this one lady wrote about her experience getting some xrays and it would have cost here like 1 thousand dollars had she paid out of pocket but with insurance it cost here 2k (that was her copay) and they charged more against the insurance.
overcharging is the main reason hospitals and health insurance companies are against provisions requiring them to provide a list of prices for the 100 most used services at a hospital.
