Hey gang,

Yes I'll be primarily casting 90% of the time. but the 10% of the time, when a mob is in my face (levels 1-10) I'd like to have a decently high dmg / fast dagger or staff to beat them with.

Anyone have an "OK" weapon for cheep prices? What should I look for? My friend spotted me a few pp.

If you're looking for a nice delay / dmg ratio weapon, go for a Dragoon Dirk (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Dragoon_Dirk) or a Shark Tooth (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Shark_Tooth), or a Staff of Writhing (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Staff_of_Writhing) for around 50pp. My preference would go to the Dragoon Dirk as you'll use it for resists in range slot for a long time.

If you want level 1 proc weapons, you can get a Crookstinger (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Crookstinger) (poison dot proc) or Ice Crystal Staff (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Ice_Crystal_Staff) (around 15 DD iirc) for around 50pp too.

If you have more pp (around 200), go for a Dagger of Frost (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Dagger_of_Frost). The ratio is more than correct, it procs a 38 DD at level 20 and adds a nice +3 Int.

I hope this helps.

The Runewood Great Staff is pretty baller and you will never surpass the damage cap before you reach a level at which you will no longer be able to melee. It is also good 2HB practice for when you get an OT Hammer =)

OT hammers proccing is not based on 2hb skill.

As to the OP's question, you can "sneak" through the staff of the wheel quest at a really low level. Especially if you have a friend here
