This is a simple change to make, if you wanted a more-classic implementation on item descriptions. When this is file is re-released with a patch, it will be updated.

I suggest using SciTE to edit text files. An open source text editor that can show white-space and line endings, and my favourite: search/replace using regular expression

That isn't doable on your side? I was wondering why I remembered these things differently and when they were changed in Live. They were pretty cool lingo man. I want a shirt that says No Drop or No Rent on it, yeah!

I tried editing eqstr_us.txt with Windows Notepad and ended up breaking the file. I think it was something to do with the file format (ANSI vs. Unicode vs. UTF-8).

Figured this is the most relevant topic already open!

Going through eqstr_us.txt, I made the following changes:

Haste: %1% -> Effect: Haste
NO TRADE -> NO DROP
TEMPORARY -> NO RENT
The Ruins of Old Paineel -> The HoleA modified eqstr_us.txt file will be distributed at patch time.

If anyone knows of other classic changes needed, post em up.

After some thought, I think I may be getting the Item UI confused with how we talked about the items in chat (shorthand typing back in Classic). It was probably NO_DROP in the item windows since initial 1999 launch.
