For example Forest loop. The other day someone was selling a forest loop for 3.2k. A few days later I calmed down about it because somebody was selling them for 350pp.

I've been searching for a Skull-topped Runestaff
Skill: 1H Blunt Atk Delay: 25
DMG: 7 Dmg Bonus: 23
This item is placeable in yards and houses.
INT: +2 MANA: +15
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=83 for about 7 days. So finally somebody contacted me in the game and wanted 10k for this 2int 15mana item because "it looks cool". This item drops from a lvl 26 sarnark in FM. He is Not rare, he just spawns in a certain spot. This is not an Epic item, it is a newbie staff.

I've seen other things wayyy over priced as well. Mainly because people are all focusing on the popular named items and when an item that is rare peeks it's head above water then people think it's epic just because nobody has seen it b4.

Keep you're 10k cheif. When i am lvl 26 I will camp these for 3 or 4 days and put them on the market at 200pp and flood some sense into these insane prices.

Thank you - come again,
Spooke

When you get .5 staves in 3 or 4 days, I will be the first to buy it for 100pp.

whoever quoted that price to you assumes you have a main with plenty of $$$, considering you were looking for such a specific item. that's what I would guess.

You're right it's a shitty item, but you're oh so very wrong on its rarity. I've ran the sarnak cycle for weeks straight for a particular item about a year ago. And during that month of killing the sarnaks nameds (who are already rare themselves, and will drop their loot about 10% of the time), I've seen that staff once maybe twice. Yep that's right, out of the 10'ish different sarnaks that can spawn and rarely drop their crappy loots, you're looking at roughly a 1% chance of getting the item you're looking for every time you get one to spawn. And it takes a while; you have obviously never spent time doing that named cycle. Nobody does, because there's virtually nothing worthwhile dropping from it. As Slave said, good luck finding a cheap staff.
It's what you call a vanity item. Don't like it, don't buy it.

I've noticed a guy auctioning an item the other night I didn't recognize....clicked the item link and my first thought was "What a piece of shit." So I ask him nicely "what makes this 2k?" thinking it might be an epic piece or something...."its a rare drop from kunark"

A rare turd is still a turd.

this..

don't be so mad OP, you obviously didn't listen to a word I told you about this cycle and said item. if you want to spend 200pp for a 2int, 15mana item, get a stein of moggok, but you want a specific, stupid rare, shitty item that does indeed look like the coolest 1hb a caster can have, but do what you like man, enjoy farming loads of them when you finally hit 26!

LOL a "Vanity item"! A Manastone is a vanity item. A noob Kunark staff is not. And Trust me, if you take a druid (track) to FM, then you will have 4-5 Staffs a day. I know this because i've done it. This item is not rare at all.

I've noticed a guy auctioning an item the other night I didn't recognize....clicked the item link and my first thought was "What a piece of shit." So I ask him nicely "what makes this 2k?" thinking it might be an epic piece or something...."its a rare drop from kunark"

This guy sees what I see. Just because this server has a very small population items like these are considered "Rare" or "Vanity" LOL. Lemme tell you guys, if this server had 1500 people on it, then all these items would be all over the place. Then you could take your .5% statistic and shove it.

This isn't the only item that is jacked up in price. There are plenty of items that are being sold for insane prices just because this is a low pop server.

"Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it."

In other words, if you don't want to spend that kind of money on it, don't buy it.

I suppose I should mention I only know that quote because I played Civ4 too much :D

Manastone is not a vanity item. Frequency on Live does not equate to frequency here. Prices are jacked up for a few reasons, but not so much why you said.

Here's the bottom line though. If a price is too high, simply don't buy it. The system is self correcting. You making a post decrying high prices is not going to prevent overpricing in any event.

A Manastone is a vanity item.
