I remember following them back in 2007/8 thinking that it would be done in a few months. Stopped caring once I found VZ/TZ and then stopped by to see that it was still going nowhere. Funny thing is , there are still people who follow that project.

I'm all for development as a learning experience, but that has been going on for years. They have just two guys listed as developers. I don't see there being that many benefits to developing EQ "from the ground up" so it can be "perfect", instead of say, using the established eqemu code.

Yeahlight says he has put 3000+ hours into the project, which I guess you have to respect, but at the same time how much could he have contributed to the eqemu codebase with that time?

I actually tried to promote this server there when it was first released.....he banned me for trying to promote a project other than his own.....I dunno his seems like its still a decade away.

they still use like all the eqemu code networking code and everything anyway according to secrets

basically they got like EQEMU 0.2.0 (latest is 0.8.0, vztz was 0.7.0), and started adding shit from there. so like they dum as fuk, instead of like rogean just deleting AA codes and wrote new damage formulas, fresh db etc for this box.

This guy is saying P99 stole code from them haha.

This. However, I cannot personally say how long it would take to actually re-create code from that day you would log on when the game launched. The EMU code still has tons of stuff from non-classic.
