Followed this guide to make the light: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs_QRorECvo

Only used 26watt 6500k CFL bulbs though, well see if they are powerful enough for the plants to fully grow.

All in all it cost me about 70$ or so to buy 8 different packs of seeds, the pots, potting soil, build the light, tray, timer, cord, etc.

Sage, Cilantro, Basil, Rosemary are the back row.

oh and for any of those curious, the Thyme and Oregano sprouted in 5 days, the Basil 6 days, Marjoram is just coming through the dirt, nothing from the rest. All ahead of schedule thus far.

The thing that the lights are in are a metal/reflective hood... I thought about that but probably wont until they start to get bigged and i find it necessary.. the light blasts pretty good right now

Word.

Looks good tho! Cold air is also your friend, as well as a constant wind to strengthen the stalks, so a fan or two is definitely rad.

Day 33 (5-9-10)
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f304/AHyson/00Garden5-9.jpg

My backyard was a wreck (we rent). So I've spent about 40-50 hours out there cleaning out debris. For example, those bricks were in 2 huge piles (one was turned over) and the kind college kids behind us had broken a few beer bottles on top of them from their balcony it looked like.

I haven't had the time to get out there and get the weeds out. It's finally the weekend, and I'm so sunburnt it hurts to be outside! =P

Anyone else with a garden?

Nice work. Unfortunately I'm not planting an outside garden this year at my house since I'm moving.. but I'm going to have a lot of space at my new place and may do a fully indoor garden so I can get stuff year around here in Colorado...

I figured my title would throw a few of yall off ;)

Damn Jify you got a small forest going in your pantry. I saw those type of setups to buy but didn't think you could do that much in them... nice...

Outdoor grow ftw

Snow on the ground 8 months of the year up here. So I pretty much have to grow my herbs indoors. :(

Same thing here.. Really only have a small window to plant in Colorado.. A few things will last through the winter but not enough.. If you even want to get tomato's you have to start them inside or buy a near full size plant otherwise the production isn't worth it...

I'm moving in like 2 1/2 months into a house with a really big laundry room I'm going to turn into a pretty large indoor garden.. Ill keep pictures updated..

Thyme starting to get taller, thinning it out a bit. Oregano is doing well but not tall enough to thin. Cilantro all sprouted the other day and are pretty damn tall.. probably be thinning that out soon. Basil is doing great, lots of sprouts. Marjoram won't seem to live - I've seen about 5 start to poke through the dirt and die, but there is a small one in the corner that has gotten further than any of the others. Sage has not shown up yet.. trying to figure out why. Others not due yet! Going good so far!

These little guys are started to get pretty tall. Debating on lowering that wall in front of them so they can get a little more sunlight!

Nice! It's pretty amazing the difference between a store bought tomato and a garden grown one. It's kinda like comparing kraft single slices of cheese to chimay cheese.

Sage never sprouted so I picked up one from the store. Everything else has sprouted so far and is looking fairly solid.

Everything on the indoor was looking good cept for the rosemary so I grabbed one of those from the farmers market yesterday. (not pictured..) Had to move these to bigger soil pots too.. others were much too small...

Left to right.. Zucchini, Thai Basil, Bush Cucumber, Cherry Tomato sprouts far right.

Ya... we only get "no snow" for like.. 3-4 months tops. Doesn't pay for me to grow an outdoorsy garden yet.

Nice stuff though! 8D

Line the top, sides, and bottom of the grow area with mylar or uncrinkled foil.

i've seen foil cause burns on plants. mylar is good, but i prefer black and white poly. white side reflects light, the black side keeps it in so you can use it to partition rooms if you need multiple light cycles, quarantine, whatever
