Pals you know I love you all so I just wanted to get you guys to come fly with me on EVE. I was highly skeptical of this game but because I had nothing better to do, I took up Diggles offer for buddy invite.
Again knowing this game would be trash I made a gay looking avatar and put him in a gay pose. I followed up my character creation by naming my guy Samwise Everquest. At first I was lost and a little confused because this was unlike any other mmo I've ever played. A week later I subcribed and now I return to have you all try this great game.
PROs
-Grief factor that cannot be measured when compared to EQ.
-Sandbox environment, do w/e. Many "careers" are player driven such as pirates (gankers), scammers, spies, corp (guild) ninjas, and "can flippers" which are people who steal ores from honest hard-working miners. Look at link
http://swiftandbitter.com/eve/wtd/
-Strategic mass pvp, even being outnumbered 4 to 1 does not ensure victory.
-40k players normally active on one server (the game is one server)
-With some connection, you can begin small gang pvp fleets your first day.
-Speaking of pvp, way easy to find. Hell you can pull up your map and click on ships destoryed in the last 24 hours and what youll see are big yellow dots everywhere :)
-NO GRIND, poopsockers will not like this. your skills are trained in real time meaning whether you are logged on or off you are training.
CONS
-no grinding means youll never have as many skill points as veteran players which is why you should specialize in what you want to do (combat, industry, mining, ect)
-real loss when you die. you lose your ship and every thing you fitted on to it. there is a saying in EVE, "Dont fly what you cant afford to lose" live by it. could also be a pro because you can really ruins someones day.
-steep learning curve. nothing is spoon fed. you lookin for an ez game close thead now.
-teamwork, this aint soloquest. to do big things takes cooperation from dozens of players. you know, what a mmos supposed to be like.
-pay to play, later if you do things right you wont have to ever pay per month. too long to explain but basically for 500mil ISK (like pp in EQ) you can buy 30 day sub. however petitions and other services are done immediately and every expansion is free (new content every 6 months)
If anything just try it out. I am serious, I love this game already. Had Red99 not become a chore, I would have never tried this so I am glad that I did play on here. You can sign up for 14 day free trial OR you can message me your email and ill buddy invite you (allows you to play for free for 21 days.) If you end up subscribing, I'll send you 200 mil ISK (half the price of one month subscription.) We have a channel called Project1999. There you will find about 8 of us but each week we get another to fly with us. Seriously bros, just try it out. You wont regret it and there is nothing to lose to try. I'll leave some links. See you in game :) - Samwise Out.

Hey Sam, about PvP.. is there any skill involved in one on one battles, or is just kinda spray and pray?

a ton of skills involved in 1v1. ship match up and ammo/weapon types are a huge factor. other things such as web stasis (basically a snare), microwarp drives (to get in close at a high velocity) and most importantly some kind of warp screambler (keeps them from warping away) are needed in 1v1.

I can't sit here and say they wont have an advantage but there are plenty of videos of people in inferior ships and skill points totals completely destroying vets in pvp. ofc 1v1 with same ship and pilot with equal xp, the pilot with the most sp will probably win but what are the chances of that? besides eve is more about small gang to fleet battles than 1v1 roaming.

Samwise did not heed Diggles or Steaks warning about pvp. I am red to the core. Immediately after tutorials i began my pvp conquest. results... ya i got owned.
http://eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail&view=kills&plt_id=1357872&m=4&y=2012
one thing about eve is all your kills and engagments are logged for the most part in databases called KillBoards. Here you can see ive killed 2 ships and ive lost 19. Id say about 3 of those losses could have been kills had I known more about the game. 6 or more of those losses were in fleet battles where I was tackling in a frigate (basically CCing big ships in a small ship so I got targeted.) Go hard or go home :)
SamwiseRed
04-18-2012, 03:35 PM
my first "big" kill was this guy
http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13036174
I baited this guy into engaging me while i had backup on the way. I losed my ship (about 1-2 mil but he lost a faction ship with mods worth over 22mil) I got about 5 mil in loots from him so was a good kill in my books :)

sorry brother i havent played in 2 months. i dont recall that but sounds like meh. anyway eq pvp is hardcore but to the point of not fun. games are supposed to be fun right? mmos supposed to have massive player base right? i am not trolling this timea round. I am not trying to destroy its remaining player base. But I feel like I should share what I found. THis game has soo much depth. I cant compare it to anything and its a shame if someone like myself was never introduced to it. cheers bro. if you want a 20 bard or 20 warrior pm me and ill try to remember account info.

well in that case anything could work

diablo 3 = destorying box

this post was to inform people of a game i find really entertaining. cant blame me for sharing with people i like. easier to make this post then to PM everyone indiv. at the end of the day we play games for enjoyment and entertainment, not to stay loyal to one box despite it being more of a chore to play for some.

the ride doesn't really get going for quite a while...months, actually. tackling in a Rifter or something only provides so much staying power.
since you can buy PLEX (from CCP or authorized vendors...smart company) and trade in-game for ISK...

I'd like to say though, the only advantage vets have is flexibility. To get on top of a career takes a month tops, the advantage vets have is that they can do more than one. That, of course, has no real combat benefits. Most ships are fit for one role and you have to go to a station to change it.
First of all Harrison has no clue. I have been playing EvE on and off since 2004 and i have pretty much done everything PvP wise. Just with the expierence i have by playing i can create a 9 hours old char jump into a Rifter and win 8 of 10 fights and escape the other two.
However i found most fun in trapping Missionrunners in High-Sec blowing their stuff out of the sky because even 2 years old blue chars dont even know how Aggro-timers work, the tears are delicious.
I had way more fun in low sec than in 0.0. Big blops fights become dull after a while and not many care that much about null sec politics anymore. Low-sec is still pretty intense. If you ever have a chance, but please be ready first, join a Corp that goes into lvl 4 wormholes ( dont mind lvl 5 the PvP is just like in null sec). You will make a buttload of money and you and your corps are pretty much in a do or die situation.
Another great option join a mercenary corp and wardec trade corps of big null sec alliances in high-sec...there is a bunch of money and tears to get from there.
However while you are still testing and doing stuff, start working on your faction with an Locater Agent, get him to lvl 5 asap. There is nothing better to have a way to find out where somebody is who screwed you over, suprise him with a paladin ship and blow his sorry ass out of a Tier 3 Loki, knowing he just lost alot of money and 4 weeks of skills (true story).
Eve-Online is like UO in Space during good old Felucca time, PC Action named it the mmo of the century and it is content and sandbox wise a masterpiece and now it even looks stunning.
However my young capsuleer it will eat your soul and you pretty much wont be playing anything else but EvE. Thats the reason i stopped i missed a bunch of games and some social activities BUT i made some great friends and who knows maybe ill come back.
It is a great game you either love it or hate there is nothing in between...the game industry loves it but they know it would be too hard to even try to copy it.
Have fun in New Eden, fly safe

That is simply untrue. To get decent skills for most T2 ships, it takes 2-3 months of training, just for that type of ship. Add in another 2-3 months for just the base skillset JUST to be able to compete near the same level as a vet, and you're basically looking at 4-6 months to get STARTED.

PROS - be a interceptor dbag
CONS - Spend 5 years queing skills to get a battleship liscense.
Spend 5 more years saving up ISK to fly one
Spend 5 minutes flying before you get gibbed by sperglord who has been playing 20 years and has a mothership.

Slave is right, however it will take you quite a short time to be able to fly a Rifter for example so you are already in a good position to become a tackler/Dronekiller and once you can fly your T1 frig on lvl 5 you are as good as anyother vet char.

Well if your skill was as good as your sig making skill no wonder you failed.
P.S. You dont need 5 years to be able to fly a battleship. 6 month tops if you just skill for it and dont mess up skills. A fresh char will need arround 2 years to be able to fly Titans/Supercaps

Except for microwarpdrive, other Navigation skills, Gunnery skills, Heat skills, T2 weapon qualifiers, and others. But yeah, you can shoot drones and tackle things for about 12 seconds.
Your Gunnery skills,Nav skills all benefit when you go for any ship, seriously it isnt that hard. T2 weapons for BC or BS takes 2 1/2 weeks. It takes 2 month to be able to fly a T2 passive tanked newt Hurricane with T2 autocannons, that beast will rip thru almost any BC and alot of BS if flown right. Remember they got rid of all the learning skills so there is a huge chunk of skills out of the way.

you seem to be talking about 1v1 against a similiar sized ship. who plays mmos for a little 1v1 battle. the beauty of this game is no matter how many sps you have you can contribute. a lvl 1 cant do much for a raid except maybe Corpse drag if you are a halfling rogue. in eve, it doesnt take but a day to get the basics skills to fit and fly a tackler. the way you are talking sounds like the"I dont pvp unless i am fully raid geared/buffed" attitude that isnt real pvp. meh talkin to a wall. still havin fun despite being millions of sp behind:D
also like one of the above posters said, a pvp vet can make a char and get a riftor fit in a mtter of hours, and still kill off people. there are hard counters to shit in the game and all the skill points in the world aint gonna save you :D

PvP is pretty lacking unless you like sitting in a group of 1000 ships shooting 1000 ships at 1 frame per second.
You used to be able to do small gang like 5 to 20 people but now if you try you'll 9/10 times get a hotdrop on you or people will run away and hide till they can get a hotdrop on you. Hot drop basically means they'll drop a super carrier on you, which is unkillable unless you also have a supercarrier which you won't for at least a year (skill training time).
You'll need at least 2 accounts to survive meaning 30 per month or you'll need to grind isks to buy free account time.
I was Infinity Ziona, I played from 2003 to 2011 n founded the privateers alliance but ended up quitting because it got too expensive to have multiple accounts to survive and the solo / small gang pvp pretty much became impossible.

I assure you I know every nuance of every possible matchup you will ever possibly have the possibility of encountering in EVE. I have personally trained literally hundreds of pilots in every aspect of the game and have achieved a k/d isk ratio that is nothing short of legendary. I have fought in many major wars, not just battles, and have truly influenced the course of events in the universe.
You may talk about how much you like the game, but the moment you begin speaking to me in anything but an awed, hushed tone regarding EVE is the moment I have to laugh at you derisively. You should now consider yourself properly chastened before you unwittingly give me motive to serially pod you into oblivion. And I most certainly will be able to find you and do so if I wish. One of the things I miss about EVE is that actions have consequences. :)

Infinity Ziona (http://community.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=391006&page=1) was a pretty big name...and speaks the truth about EvE in its current state.

I played eve for awhile, I joined a war decking clan, and the pvp went like this. Go to point A and sit, go to point B and sit, go to point C... Enemies in system! move to point D where enemies are at. Opps they are already at point Z. The pvp bored the shit out of me, after the first pvp ops. Eve is a great crafting game if you like to do that. It takes about 6 months to beable to kill anyone thats been playing a year or more 1 on 1, and that is only if you know what to get skill wise before you even start your character. That is prob the worst part of eve is waiting for skills.

Eve Online requires a massive amount of time to get to where you can accomplish things. Yes, it's newbie friendly and yes new players can start off doing missions right off the bat, but that's all you can do effectively, mission. A 1 week old character will never be good in PvP because a 2 week character will have much more SP then he does. The 2 week player will pull more DPS and have a higher rate of fire if he's training correctly.
I played this game for 5 years and now... well... I just don't see the fun in it.

so someone who gets a head start has an advantage? well derpty derp derp derp. what if all the 2 week player's SP (skillpoints for people who dont know wtf that is) went to mining or maybe he was pvp "speced" but put points in the wrong places. sp only goes so far, just like gear, levels, and spells for eq. thats not even touching the ship the players in, how its fit, and most importantly player skill. this goes for any game, you would think that someone who has played this game for 5 years would understand. not to mention there are counters to everything. learn 2 game?

hard to not give an unbiased answer. I would say this mmo has more to offer than any other mmo currently out. there is a steep learning curve and ALOT to digest the first few days of playing. I cant compare it to anything but its definitely not just a "space shooter." player base is a little different, i mean you have hardcore pirate who pvp all day and night but id say it further from the WoW crowd than any other mmo. If you want someone completely different definately try it. PM me your email for 21 say trial instead of 14. cant hurt to try. peace

The problem with EvE is that it can take months to do anything significant. You can have some fun...but be prepared to be in it for the long haul.
There IS a way to beat the time investment. CCP sells and has authorized sellers for PLEX, which are subscriptions that can be reimbursed in-game. These PLEX can also be traded to other players for ISK (in-game cash). Basically you can RMT a character legally.
Try the game out; see if you like it. After a while you'll be bored with your limitations, and then you can check out the character forum to take a look at what kinds of characters are being sold.
One GOOD thing about EvE is that since you CAN trade ISK in-game for PLEX...basically you can play for free, but you have to have the ability to generate the kind of cash needed for that, and that takes a vested character...there are tons of ways to do it, however.
Pirating brings its own set of limitations, but it really is the only way a new player MIGHT generate that kind of cash.
There's too much about EvE to try to explain it. Take Sam's offer if you're interested - it's a free 21 days - and check out EvE University for help; they're a corp designed to help new players, and they've been around a loooong time.
I may resub Dobri M (http://eveboard.com/pilot/Dobri_M) one of these days...who knows? He's a glorified scout, but can generate mucho cash. Ninja-looter extraordinaire, he is (sure he can mine with a Hulk...but mission griefing tears is ownage).
One thing I can give EvE is that PvP-wise, it is the ultimate game. Nothing like taking down a Titan...especially when you realize Titans are worth thousands of dollars in RL cash. Grief knows no bounds in EvE; I'm surprised people haven't committed suicide over the grief in EvE. Maybe they have, lol...

I'm not against PvP whatsoever. I'm against the ruthlessness the game seems to encourage. I never care about dying in Battlefield 3, I never care much about dying in EQ's PvP servers, or DAOC, or when I played on a WoW PvP server, but in EVE I'm sure I'd care too much.
EVE allows players to do things to each other that other MMOs have the good sense to not allow. Some of the things I've seen on youtube would be cause for permanent bans, but in EVE they're practically celebrated.
I'm a casual gamer who does it for fun and relaxation. Not sure EVE fits my style.

EvE is a harsh game...but you have to be smart. The only time you can be griefed is when you allow it.
Never fly a ship you can't afford to lose. Never fully trust anyone...no matter how long you've played with them. Never invest ISK you you can't afford to lose. Expect the unexpected. Don't let someone con you. Watch your trade window. Know what you're buying. The list goes on and on, lol.
Most of the grief comes from players that only play the "blue" side of EvE and get smacked...flying a load that has enough worth for suicide gankers into Jita for example. Or in the case of a previous link of mine...mining in null or low-sec and thinking no one is going to bother you. Taking that "shortcut" through low-sec.
If you play smart and understand that something can always happen to your pretties...you're invulnerable. If you play long enough to venture into playing strictly in 0 space...you won't need any advice anymore.

nah...the blame lies on the guy who shouldn't be playing. EvE is a grief game and anyone playing 23 Mackinaws simultaneously in low-sec without at least a merc crew deserves to be ganked.
Mattini gave the guy's in-game name and told people to find him and "make him kill himself." Whether he actually meant that literally is something only Mattini knows. I'd bet a lot of people extended support to the poor guy too...EvE isn't played by just sociopaths, lol.
I'm not condoning what Mattini did. But if you understand EvE...you understand why he did what he did.
Some people should NOT play EvE...like the poor sap that had 23 Mackinaws blown to oblivion...it's sounding like he was actually in Alliance space...with NO protection...and he needs psychological help, not a game where he can be griefed and get THAT depressed because he himsef does something stupid. He could have stayed in .5 space or better...since CONCORD reaction times were increased, suicide gankers would not attempt any Mackinaw unless they were willing to lose a ship without much of a return, if any.
It's worth mentioning that people will claim their mothers are dying, they have cancer and have a week to live, and all kinds of other stuff to keep from getting griefed in-game. Who's to say everything the guy said wasn't a con to make the griefers feel bad and return ISK? If you know EvE, you know that's definitely in the realm of possibility.

Mittens said "here is the dudes in game name. Have fun, make him kill himself if you feel like it." the guy was obviously playing out a huge sobstory and the whole thing is just retarded

It's kind of late to spin it that way when so many responses in various Eve threads have been along the lines of "omg this game looks great to grief in."
Doesn't need spin...lol. People don't understand a game so massively huge and complex that they can play the game pretty much any way they want.
I started out talking EvE down because - to quote Diggles - I am bittervet, but that's from playing so many years and watching changes. Like them taking out ghost training when it was originally a feature, but w/e.
You don't like PvP...don't have to. Play missions all day and create an empire...all in hi-sec space. You like PvP lite? Cruise low-sec and pirate-hunt. Like to grief stupid freighter pilots (ones that auto...or haul through low-sec without a spotter or help...) done.
This game is so huge you can do anything. Always has been. A smart player can't be griefed, conned, or otherwise have a feather ruffled in EvE...the joy - and fact of the matter - is that just like any other game, there are idiots...and carebears that think they can safely mine in null sec just like they can in hi-sec, or some dolt that doesn't understand the mechanics of a can-flip. You research the game, hook up with a corp like EvE University...make friends and learn that grief is reserved for retards.
One thing I can guarantee you is that you'll never have to play alone...24/7 - 365...or you can always play alone if you prefer. Or play alone sometimes....w/e.
There's a newer video, Sam.

Can flipping...this guy cons a newb into taking his stuff back after a can flip...which then makes the newb a legal target in hi-sec. Don't fall for this.

okay, after some monitoring fxaa is a really cool graphic enhancement, but at the same time it pumps my gfx card up about 10 degrees. I'm gonna do some more tests but im not sure about it atm. doesn't do this in tribes or bf3 though which is odd.

My left testicle is hanging lower than my right testicle. Is this is a sign of a disease or Hernia? It is not painful, but I am worried. What is this medical condition called?
- Magnus, Norway
2. Hi Doctor,
I am 20 years old and a virgin boy. My Right testicle hangs lower than my left testicle. I am very scared of this problem. How to cure this problem? Do I have to undergo surgery? Please answer asap!
- Abu Bakr, Pakistan
Answer: No, having one testicle hanging lower than the other is NOT a disease or a medical condition. It is natural and it is present in about 95% all men.
Why does one testis hang lower than the other?
The reason is due to the venous blood drainage. In the left side, the testicular vein drains into the left renal vein. The left renal vein is smaller than the inferior vena cava to which the right spermatic vein drains into. This difference in the speed of venous blood drainage produces the difference in height of the two testicles.
If you have two testicles hanging exactly at the same level, they would rub and bang against each other when you walk, run or do any physical activity. This will cause a lot of pain and trauma. Nature prevents this issue by hanging one testicle lower than the other.

That actually is a problem for me (not a problem of ability to pay, but a problem of wanting to pay). If I was going to pay for an MMO again, it would probably be Rift or the possible new upcoming Elder Scrolls MMO (http://www.tomsguide.com/us/ZeniMax-Bethesda-Elder-Scrolls-Online-MMO,news-14481.html).
