I would not mind seeing these on the forums. Think there is enough of a population at this point to make it worth the effort?

Don't think it warrants a sub-forum for each class (maybe bards do :D but i think they have one already in the bugs section ... oh snap!)

Although it would make it tidier than having a single post for someone asking "where's the best place to solo for a necro ..." or whatever...

It might be useful, but maybe just have a forum with class related posts? i dunno...

Or they could do it in chunks, like Int Casters, Priests, etc.

definitely needs a paladin subthread so i can hang out with ektar, kinburt, mugwy, elaida, virtuosos, glitch's twink, AND PLUMB

That may be the way to do it. But I agree, it would be nice to have all of those questions and resources in one area.

I really don't mind a Class forum with 14 subforums, but for people who feel it would be somehow cluttered, that could be another way.

I don't think it would be cluttered, i just think you'd end up with classes that don't have many players having empty forums.

Thumbs up to the having sort of divisions (pure casters, priests, hybrids, tanks) That'd work quite well i think, could have class specific threads in them if needed and it'd be quite tidy.

I'm in support of this, was thinking about it yesterday, how nice it would be to ask questions of other clerics about where to gear up and what not.

but how would we split them up? i mean, seperate forums for melees, priests, casters, and hybrid -- seems sort of revolutionary, you know? like, in the sense that it's never been considered before

I know right? makes you proud to be alive in this year of 1999 :D

I think it would be a good idea. Right now we're limited on the resources since everything is all current and it's hard to find classic EQ info.

How about - Tanks, Healers, Caster Dps, Melee Dps. - or just Tank, Healing, DPS.

This way you could get a slight breakdown but still not have empty class forums such as the ranger.

1 subforum for each class or nothing. I don't think the population of the server or the Server Chat chatter makes 13 new subforums a necessity.

Would love to see class subforums.

It's been really hard to find old-school info on the let at large, I've noticed, and it would be great to be able to have detailed class discussions, sticky guides, etc.

IMO

i think yes some wouldnt be very populated in the beginning, but they would in time get love from newer members of that class.

I think this is a great idea! Most of us know the classes pretty well already, but for newer players it could be a great resource for info. As someone said, sifting through the internet trying to find classic info can be difficult if you don't know what you're looking for. The conversation and help from others in your class will also bring the community closer together.

a separate sub forum for each class. Obviously.

Who's gonna care about reading shaman quests as a cleric? Or what warrior cares about the rogue epic? So, a sub-forum for each class.

If a general 'Quests and Class Info' forum isn't good enough, then Melee, Healer, Caster and Puller forums should be sufficient.

Separate forums for each class are a bit much given the size of our community.

Besides, for some classes their traditional class forums should be sufficient (ie: The Safehouse for Rogues, Steel Warrior for Warriors, etc). Those forums tend to have deep memories (archived threads, members who remember classic EQ very well, etc).

I thought the same thing myself, till I started actually looking for specific little nitpicky nuggets of info from way back.

Like this stat debate some of us have been having....I searched high and low on The Safehouse the other day for a couple hours and found nothing. I've been gone a couple years, but lots of that old info is either gone or I'm missing something and just couldn't find it.

Playing a warrior right now...Couldn't remember what level Wars get critical hits (never did find out lol) so went to The Steel Warriors to see if I could find it, since it's basic info about a warrior. Searched forever. No dice. Again, I could be missing something, though.

Allakhazams....'nuff said.

This era is long gone and a dead issue everywhere I've looked. Plus there are issues unique to this server that affect different classes differently, Bards being a great example. People would be more apt to post class specific info and questions that inspire others to post info in class boards, I would think.

Not that I'm opposed to combined forums or something like that, of course.

I suppose if you had information threads stickied in each subforum with people responsible for updating them, you'd avoid a bunch of repetitive posts (ie. stickied posts on gear threads, class info etc.) It would be useful. But then i think that's what people are trying to do with the P99 wiki...

I'd be up for it anyways.

Oh another thing...Besides class forums, what about a general tradeskills forum?

I was at EQ Traders Corner trying to find basic old world crafting info for each trade and had the same experience.

There's quite a bit of the info you'll require there, not sure if we need a tradeskilling subforum. Quite a bit of information is kept in that thread.

How about starting with a section for each class and if there ends up being little to no action, consolidate them down? I never administrated a MB so I haven't the slightest idea as to how labor intensive something like this would be. Hoping it is easy to implement so no EQ playing time is sacrificed!

True enough, but where do we discuss tradeskills as they pertain to Project 1999? And are those guides current with how things are set up here?

Lots of ins and outs with the trades...plus, don't several of them change a bit during the scope of this server?

Can't see where it would hurt. Keeps all the discussion in one place, if nothing else.

The problem with the wiki is there are like 2 or 3 different wikia's trying to be the official one... The community as a whole needs to choose which one were actually gonna work on and then some how make a link on the homepage of the site directing people there.... and it being the official wiki of p99.

as for class forums, i think they would do fine.... so what if some dont have as much info.. just throw them down there and lets see how they work... i mean hell if you dont want to go to them dont... but for those of us who think it would become a vital part of the community let us at least have a fair chance at bringing success to the concept.

Any chance to get a wiki hung off of Project199.org?

It wouldn't be a bad idea to make archtype forums...

Instead of having 14 different class forums, you can combine them to have 4-5.

Melee/Range
Caster
Tank
Healer

Or

Hybrid
Casters
Healers
Melee

etc
