Extremely rude GM behaviour on red server; quitting P1999

Every day after work, I log into P1999 to do some casual chatting with friends and leveling.

Lately, I've been playing a low-level wizard on the P1999 RED and hunting in crushbone. I've made some friends and had some fun and some PVP.

Today, I logged in to a huge crowd outside of CB. A GM event. Cool. Some nice high level players buffed me. Cool.

So I kept on leveling in CB... then all of the sudden a GM: "everyone leave the zone! NOW!"
Me: "Why?"
GM: "There's an event. Do it now or I'll kill you."
Me: "Well I'm going to die running out from the place where I'm at, so it's really the same either way..."

Anyway I did make it to the zone and luckily some pathing bugs save me. The GM did not kill me either. Annoyed, I went to sell at Kelethin.

I came back to the CB entrance to see what was going on, only to be nuked to death by a GM seconds later. Exp loss. Returned to bind point.

When asked why I was summarily executed given that I was a level 10 newbie standing outside of crushbone (not exactly an unreasonable place to stand for such a character?) I was told I needed to "GO AWAY BECAUSE I'M NOT LEVEL 40!"

At this point I was naked, down a bunch of exp (I don't play all that much so it takes me a while to level), and such. I was also furious. So I went back to Crushbone to get my corpse and said, "OH LOOK A LEVEL 10 STANDING AT CRUSHBONE! Oh no!"

I was then insta-kicked from the server. When I try to log back in now to either BLUE or RED, it says I am BANNED.

Based on this encounter, I have no desire to return to P1999 (who wants to work on a character when you can be insta-banned for no reason?)

But I wanted to WARN my fellow EQ-ers: do not spend your time on these servers. Because you're not a paying customer, the GMs can and will treat you like utter garbage and throw away your entire account simply for standing in the same place you hunt every day.

I do love the EQ community, so I wish you good luck and hope to see all of you around in other MMOs.

That is really sad about what happen to you, I had no doubt that you are really telling the truth but it takes two to tangle. So far, I think the GM on Blue server had been working really hard to be fair, maybe it is different there on RED. Let be honest, Red and Blue players are totally different, especially the attitudes.

Then I went back to that same spot and I was punished further.

Irrelevant. A GM shouldn't evacuate an entire low level xp zone for an undetermined amount of time to host a high level GM event. The event hosted should be in either a neutral or 'hub' zone (East Commonlands, The Arena, etc) or in a zone that is approximately the level you intend the event to cater to. And even if you do host such an event the GM should not have the right to evacuate the zone in such a way and especially not to kill or ban lower characters for being there. Though admittedly OP's childish remark as he returned to CB for his corpse was not only unwarranted, regardless of anger levels, but also provocative.

I also agree with an above statement: to expect anything but jackass behavior on a PVP server is naive. Though you would think a GM would be above that.

You showed up and we were very busy. I can't speak for sirken exactly but I believe he told you to leave. Had you sent he or i a tell asking us for a port somewhere we would gladly have zapped you to any zone at that point. But you were making it incredibly difficult for us to make groups. we were like "Who is this pereson? LEVEL 10!!!???" and it happened more than once. we were BUSY. After you were removed the first time, you could have come back and dragged your corpse back to town but instead you came back and looted then sat down near us.

Beyond that I don't know what happened. But if your account is banned and you feel it is unfair or feel you were treated unfairly please petition in the petition/exploit section or feel free to PM me on the boards.

So he was told to leave CB and did. Then you punished him for being where you said he could be....outside the zone he was told to leave. Laughably awful.

Yeah this is pretty piss poor. I'm not sure how one level 10 guy leveling in a fucking area is making it "incredibly difficult to make groups" LOL. I don't think you should be trying to run events if the process of creating a group overwhelms you. And you pick CB for doing a high level event? /facepalm

Given that A. He was a new character and B. He wasn't IN crushbone where the event was taking place, he was near it. Now if he was running straight through the event being a nuisance, yeah kill him, if he does it again, ban him. They killed him instead of porting him to his bind or some other solution that would have caused much less of a ruckus.

Also he was going back to get his corpse, wtf else do you expect him to do? He could and should have acted better in the situation, but the GM's could have also.

GM's have several tools to move and lock zones without needing (and they never should be threatening) to kill anyone. Not sure this situation played out exactly as described. Will look into this. Locking this thread because it violates forum rules.
