After reading NEW THREAD and talking to my buddy, he told me about this wehrmacht guy. he was described along the lines of another harrison who noone listened to or liked but after a few pages of his posts on:

this dude had it right. altho i am in favor of 3 teams, he is pretty dead on. if only people had listened to this prophet.

note: i joined red99 at the end of december and have no prior knowledge of this person or any of the blue drama/red beta server suggestions.

But can it on the teams crap. Teams isn't TEH ANSWER. I don't want to hear anyone's stupid "HAY WAT ABOUT THIS CUSTOM TEAM SETUP I CAME UP WITH IN FIVE MINUTES AND WROTE DOWN ON A DENNYS NAPKIN AFTER HAVING AN EPIPHANY DURING MY GRAND SLAM BACON BREAKFAST". Shut up.

There's not much player interaction period right now at levels 1-40 because there's 120'ish concurrent during primetime and almost that many zones (so everyone is spread the fuck out), and no global channel to serve as connective tissue.

Nonetheless, it's still classic EQ and the PvP is still fun when you can find it. The sky isn't fucking falling because the population has remained stable in spite of these stupid threads.

I agree, changing to teams now wont work however he was right on the money about 2 guilds dominating and once it becomes one guild server dies. This wasnt a server dying thread because the server hasnt died yet. I just thought he was pretty insightful.

Teams was and still is absolutely the way to go. Prime time population is down to UNDER 70 PLAYERS. That is unsustainable. Basically, the diehards have two choices now: watch the server go down in flames or mix up the guilds a little by hardcoding racial teams.

I believe in the team paradigm over the FFA hopelessness that nobody fucking wanted to begin with. And I am shocked that Wehrmacht of all people saw this clearly. Yet... the two-team model is much weaker than a three-team model.

With two teams, there will ALWAYS be a stronger team. Whoever has more and better players will always win and begin to grind down the others. In the three-team option, whenever one team starts to wax truly ascendant, the others will cease their bickering and join forces against the real threat.

Three teams also provides for more targets. Nobody on a PvP server wants to feel safe and superior at all times. When you join the dominant team on a 2-team server, you've got it made. When you join the dominant team on a 3-team server, you become a target. The progression slows down as the two weaker teams invest the leading team in grief and pvp every time. It is inherently the stabler model. It can also be made to be just as balanced as a 2-team server, if not quite as canon.

I thought from the start teams were the way to go and now that almost all of the bugs and exploits have been cleaned up...

Imho it would be much easier to draw and maintain a healthy population if a wipe were implemented. It's a long climb uphill for the server otherwise, and the only possible draw red will have otherwise is when Kunark is released.

If it lasts that long.
