View Full Version : Crashes loading char screen or EQ zone

(Sometimes after dying and crashing) When I try to login to server I can select P1999 but it will load for 1 or 2 minutes before just kicking me back to Login screen.
Sometimes it will load character selection screen, but after picking my char it will crash again in 1 minute, booting me to login server.
I get this pretty much at least twice a day, sometimes it takes me half an hour to be able to load my char.
I thought I fixed it by repatching (overwrote EQ with last patch), cos after doing this it let me login, but then it started happening again and rewriting last patch won´t help.
This seems to happen more often after I died and the game crashed, or when I changed zone and the game crashed but I don´t know if it´s related cos I believe this happens also sometimes the first time I try to log into the game.
Also noticed I´m crashing when zoning more often than before this started happing.
Sometimes I´m getting error 1017 sometimes I´m not.
Thanks in advance.

Next time it happens before even opening another Everquest Window go into your Everquest>Logs folder and PM me the contents of dbg.txt

Ok I got your crash logs and they all seem to be hitting the same issue.
Here's your problem:
2012-03-13 17:03:00 Networking: using port [51029].
2012-03-13 17:03:00 Networking: Connection Established [1]
2012-03-13 17:03:01 WorldAuthenticate: Initiating Login.
2012-03-13 17:03:41 Networking: Connection Closed [0] with 466 pending bytes.
2012-03-13 17:03:41 *** ERROR: WorldAuthenticate. My message arrival was NULL, the net has been shutdown.
2012-03-13 17:03:41 *** WorldAuthenticate. Checkpoint 3.
2012-03-13 17:03:44 Calling WorldAuthenticate. Countdown is 3
A few suggestions.
1. If you have a multi core CPU make sure to either use WinEQ or use one of the Multi-Core fixes (there's a guide on this board)
2. Disable Window Firewall or allow exceptions
3. Ensure the eqhost.txt is connecting to the proper port (5998)
Try all 3 of these if you haven't already and get back to me. If they fail to fix the issue I'll look more into it. :)

Thank you very much.
Checked steps 2 and 3 and everything is okay so I will install WinEQ and find the guides about multicore CPU cos this is indeed a dual core processor.

Any thoughts?
I have the affinity set in the shortcut. I have used the game before, so I don't think it is firewall related. I tried reinstalling (several times). EQGame is running in compatibility mode (xp sp2). I am on a windows 10 machine on a network.

Make sure you're running EQ as an administrator and also set it to run under windows xp service pack 2 or 3 in the compatibility tab under properties(for the eq icon you use to launch game.)
