I just keep it on a separate monitor or underneath my instance of EQ. I guess not everyone has a 40inch monitor.

Still, it's the best solution considering it seems unlikely that global OOC is on the way.

alt tabbing or not - let me rephrase. irc is not a very good solution. you're ruining my immersion bro.

(the actual issue is that not enough would use it, and it wouldnt be effective. needs to be an in-game solution)

This is a good idea for those that want a gobal chat. Try it out and see if it helps you find groups,etc. There is just no need to get nonclassic with a troll filled in game global chat when there is IRC/Mumble/Vent going on.

And if the above three dont take off? Well that just prooves that the real reason they want in game global /ooc is for that captive audience to get all racial/homophobic/sexist on and grief.

IRC is pretty much all of the above once the channel fills with the same sort of idiots you'll find an overabundance of in-game.

Amelinda is a great moderator though.
