Hey guys, I recently started playing Everquest for the first time, and bought a subscription on retail. But after playing a little bit I realized how empty the game feels outside of Crescent Reach and all the new content. Plus the game doesn't seem at all like the hardcore MMO I remember. Everyone just flies through levels getting like 10% exp a kill and all that nonsense.

Then today I was googlin stuff about EQ, and I found this site. So I had a few questions about how true to classic EQ this server is before I downloaded and set all the files up.

How populated are the more random zones? (like racial starting cities, East Commonlands, you know the stuff you hear about from the "good ol days of EQ")

How long does it take to level?

How many players are in the various level ranges? Is everyone either twinked or max level?

To clarify I've never really experienced EQ before(cause I wasn't old enough to really grasp it), though I was always watching over my older brothers shoulder when he was playing back in 99 and have wanted to play ever since. The time commitment and the huge reliance on group play are what really made me want to play EQ, and sadly that seems to be what SoE has cut out of the game.

Thank you.

675 players online now, 120 of which are in EC.

It takes quite a while to level which makes for a good journey.

There are plenty of people starting new all the time. There are slightly less people 30-50 than the rest of the level ranges, but it's not too bad unless you're trying to get a group at 5 am. Come play.

If you play a group friendly class you will not have a problem during prime time. Leveling in a typical group with 6 people you can expect about 1 yellow per hour on average. If you get into some very efficient 2-4 man groups you can expect 1 yellow per 30 minutes (at least up to 50 and not in hell levels). New people start every day and not everyone is twinked. You can put together groups and go anywhere in your level range fairly easily, people are generally open to exploring. The community is for the most part excellent and booming. Welcome!

Alright thanks guys, I'll be on after I DL EQ titanium. Is it possible to have live EQ in a separate file? Or would EQ titanium try to use the new launcher?

Also, random side note. I was in the Tech Discussion, I saw a thread about new textures with screenies showing the enhanced texture resolution, I noticed the player who took the screenie was in Gothic Circle. My brother who I mentioned before was the guild leader of GC. Small world.

Install titanium in a separate folder, and create an eq titanium shortcut, modifiy this short cut so it doesn't connect to the up-date server.
Modify the titanium eq to sync with p99.

You are almost never alone in Project 1999.

It's the most populated private server, period.
We're still growing too.

Are there any classes in particular that the server needs? I'm stuck between Warrior and Shaman.
