So ive been thinking and discussing with a few older members,
Is there any chance that the thought may even occur that after velious people might want to continue
If its a major success do you think P99 will go on to allow us to keep playing,
i would LOVE to see PoP again, Even luclin.

You can see those zones now, for free, on official servers.

But I do not know what they have in store for P99 after Velious. I was talking about it last night in-game, and I hope they tune Velious harder than on Live. Most people will be 60 by the time Velious comes out, so there will really only be raiding and rare item hunting to do. But its a fine balance between catering to the end-game minded 60s and the lower level player base. Either way, Velious should have enough content that raid tiers should really start popping up. That should help some of the issues with the end-game scene at the moment, but it also may not (depending on how greedy people at the top want to be).

Dragon killing though, so much fun... great memories of rushing for dragon pixels versus other guilds and the BS associated with it ;)

Even luclin.
To be quite honest, I'd love to see cats on the moon - they made good rogues/shammies :)

aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh *head explodes*
Seriously, the majority of the people who play here agree that Luclin and PoP was when EQ became worse. For years and years, people begging for a classic only server, it meant the trilogy (through Velious). I don't recall any uproar to bring back Luclin or PoP because for the most part they sucked.

I honestly don't know what will happen when Velious content is finished and people become twinked to the max and get bored of their alts and start giving me all of their epic 200k lewt... All I know is that if Luclin comes out, I'll be done. As a former TZ player, the Nexus pretty much destroyed EQ for me. While x-teaming isn't relavent here, it's just the ptsd related to watching the game commit suicide. Mainly because then, everyone becomes AFK at the Bazaar.
Oooo, ding - Large Rat status.

There have been a bazillion threads about this. No, it will not progress beyond Velious. This is why we are here. :D
If you want to play on a server that does go beyond Velious, then all others in existence (afaik) do so.

People also agree that Ssra was one of the best end game zones ever made, for grouping and even more-so for raiding. Also, people generally liked AAs, they just opined that they should have been capped instead of being able to grind them all out.
The big griefs people have with Luclin are: Nexus, VT (and the absurdly long quest to get there for the utter grind crap it delivered), Bazaar, cats on the moon (instead of near Kerra Isle), horses, Paladul-like content (retarded high ZEMs for leveling), new character models.
^^^Wow, I'm realizing that Ssra really was the only jewel in an utterly craptastic expansion.
The big griefs people have with PoP are: PoK.

I think the dev's we're talking about possibly* doing some planes, but making the entrance through the zone via old-world zones rather than PoK. I think someone mentioned zoning into a plane via kedge keep or some shit like that. Anyhoo, this topic shouldn't even be relevant for another 2 years at least.

I seriously enjoyed the thread you are referring to, however it was completely unofficial.

It doesn't look like you can play eqmac on windows without some serious work. Is that correct?

I can't get that one to work right and I couldn't figure out where to correct all my game files - my spellfiles were all borked from p99 and a bunch of the creatures looked like tiny humans walking around.
Any resources you can suggest? I've actually wanted to build up a character on PEQ just to pre-emptively explore velious a bit.

I would say that you shouldn't play EQMac on anything other than Mac hardware. If you would like to try otherwise, that is your prerogative. Also note that Hobart (the EQMac dev) and SOE are actively working to disable the "serious work" that allows PC to connect to EQMac.
But the OP wasn't talking about hardware, he was talking about playing EQ through Luclin and PoP only, without all the other expansions afterwards, which is still officially possible!

Gotcha. I might actually find a slightly older mac on the cheap and do this anyhow.

make a NEW Titanium installation into a separate folder.
P99 installer fucks up too many T files to make it even remotely compatible with any other server.

I suspect that they will keep this server Classic up through Velious and a little after (but not up to Luclin), without changes from the classic formula.
However, If the devs maintain interest that long (remember there is still a lot of work to do for Velious), I also suspect that there will another server that will be classic Velious plus some amount of custom content and cherry picking from some of the best stuff that Luclin and beyond have to offer. For example, perhaps they'll implement a limited number of zones and connect them in a non-standard fashion. Emphasis would probably be on the raiding game.
I further imagine that you could choose to have one or more characters moved to this mutated server (not copied) but they could never go back again.

While I myself loved Space Cats: The Expansion (No sarcasm. Vah Shir female are sexy. Dem fucking hips man) I will say no..don't bring Luclin+ to P99. When I want my sexy Vah Shir I go to PEQ, where i have a lovely 65 kitty shaman waiting for me, or EQMac or perhaps the soon to be EQMac EQEmu server. I don't come to P99 for that. I come to P99 to make Luclin models work and cause analrage from the Classic Brigade. <3

the only word from Nilbog i heared regarding content after velious was some scripted encounters, such as a army of orcs invading freeport and such. Again he specified this was something he would like to see, not something that was going to happen. as far as i know velious will be where P99 ends. /sadface

Actually nilbog did hint at what mwatt was mentioning - a 2nd server that you could move your character over to which has luclin+ content.
He did not say it was going to happen, but he hinted at it that it was the most probable outcome.

I should actually rephrase what I said more seriously now that I look at it. Mind you this is all just my opinion.
I wouldn't mind Luclin coming out on P99 (inb4 "but not 1999!!!" yeah well Velious isn't either. that was late 2000. You're argument is invalid.) My timeline for EQ went as such
Classic - Shadows of Luclin = God tier
Planes of Power = A shot to the heart but still not too bad
Legacy of Ykesha = Frogloks. That's all that expac was
Lost Dungeon of Norrath = annoying but still not bad
Gates of Shitcord = Everquest finally dying. This expac was so much asshattery it can't even be described. It goes beyond plain opinions. They designed the whole expansion around a level cap raise and then HELD IT OFF UNTIL OMENS. I can't possibly hold all these Why's... The development for this expac was just beyond words. Bioware tier terrible.
Omens of War = Good. Redeeming, but GoD killed too much.
DoN+ = There were a few good expacs. I liked TSS, SoF and SoD. But it just isn't the same.
As such, Luclin on P99 in my opinion wouldn't be too horrible. I think it could reasonably progress to that expac without losing the Classic feel. Progressing one more step up to PoP however would kill that feeling.
All in all, however, I think Velious should remain the ending point as, past Velious, it gets too arguable as to where good-EQ stopped and corpse-EQ begins.

Shadows of Luclin killed the entire atmosphere of the game, so that was the end for me. Graphics were retarded looking. Horses were silly. Bazaar killed socialization. And cats on the moon. SoL is where EQ jumped the shark. Everything after that was just a trajectory adjustment in shark-jumping.
