View Full Version : Game Mechanics: Players being invincible after zoning?

Recently we were attacking a monk from another guild who had just zoned out, and we nuked him maybe 10 times without any damage being done. We got spells-landed messages for each nuke which I believe rules out the possibility of a DA idol being used but I could be wrong. This also happened over a period of around 30 seconds so again, I doubt he was invincible by any legitimate means. Of course it could have been unintentional but still this is a pretty serious bug.

If he is invincible how can you still see him?

Invincible and invisible are two different words with different meanings.

Na, im with Silikten on this one. I am pretty sure they mean the same thing.

edit:

Also, that bug is strange hopefully its an isolated incident and not a 'feature'.

they dont mean the same thing, also i cant remember who but i remember someone saying this happened to them one time but the guy just disappeared after so he had no clue what happened, said he nuked enough to kill him and it was landing just no dmg being done. mabye something to do with plugging or closing EQ while zoning?

The person either went LD after or was already LD, if it helps.

All I'm saying is I don't get how you can have evidence if you can't seem them.

Well when faced with that kind of residence, the best thing to do is grin and bare it.

yeah ive noticed this bug also.. also i noticed another bug that when someone zones and you try to melee them you keep getting the message "you are too far away to attack"

really odd bugs!

This isn't a bug, I think it's just that the player isn't fully "in world" yet when you're trying to attack them so it shows them as invuln

I've had that happen a few times with a few pluggers.

Their character would spawn on the other side, invincible but would attack and cast spells as if they were an npc. They would only be visible to those that zoned before the plugger made it there and anyone else that zoned afterward wouldnt see them, even if they were still hitting and casting spells on the initial person that aggroed them.

They would usually dissapear after like 30 seconds. Pretty similar to a /q but invincible.

I even notice this while bind camping people who are afk. As soon as they re-appear at bind, they are invulnerable for the first few swings but then that quickly dissolves. Just sayin, its not related to plugging, but just zoning.

Had this experience as well. Perhaps if it can't be "fixed" you could implement a way to not show spells landing for damage so we dont unload wondering why hp isnt moving even though the text shows all hits doing damage.

The zoneline that heads down to the bedroom? If this is the one, I couldn't replicate the temporary invul.

as for the few seconds of invuln after zoning, I experienced this in feerrott and in lavastorm

There was possibly an issue with this from solb and sola entrances in lavastorm. Fixed, pending update.

Any others, please post the exact zoneline for me so I can look at the boring numbers. i.e. (Zoneline from soldungb -> Lavastorm)

common one is upper guk to lower guk dead side

4 different zone connections between guktop->gukbottom in the db, heartbrand. This is why I asked for specifics, whether it be descriptions or locs, it would help.

yeah the one near bedroom, lower guk to upper guk mostly
but also seen it in kaladim at the zoneline seen here:

To be clear, we're talking about temporarily being exempt from attacks right? Like, zoning in, and not moving renders the player 'can't see target' etc for 1-10 seconds.

I have heard other cases with people somehow getting behind zone lines, which is another issue entirely. Down to fix those as well; will need to know specifics.

Behind SolB zoneline is one that shouldn't exist.

The way to sneak behind that zone out portal in the lower guk live side king room, however, is valid.

No, this is where a player plugs and "appears" on the other side as a ghost who is invincible but hits back if attacked. The actual player is not in game.
