View Full Version : Game Mechanics: wolf form should modify which factions?

Wolf form was recently fixed to allow illusion wolf to instantly modify faction cons of certain factions. (wolf form yields indifferent faction to unrestinhabitants. You will see these results next patch).
Lesser Faydark brownies is another that comes to mind. Wolf form should change scowling -> indifferent.

This is a lot of research. I'm willing to make the necessary modifications but would appreciate help researching how wolf form should modify individual factions.
What other factions should wolf form modify and how?

You wont be KOS in Firiona Vie unless you are in wolf form, so make sure you don't ever use that!
which is from http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/zones.html?zstrat=71
if i remember, wolf on p99 is not KoS in FV. i know the date on that post isn't the best, but its a start at least.

wolf form used to work in freeport. i remember using it so people could turn in df belts. dont think you can currently

Its a dizzying amount with very little rhyme or reason Nilbog.
For example:
Misty Thicket: adjusts faction with the goblins, orcs, animals and bixes
Beholders Maze: adjusts faction with the mudmen.....but not the minotaurs or evil eyes
Rivervale: adjusts faction with merchantsofrivervale but no one else
Lesser Faydark: adjusts faction with the local orcs, and some (not all) of the dark elves
I'm sure there are even more in those zones, and then there is the rest of the world. Its just gonna take a long time.
If people want to bring up some "major" ones that they remember, I can check on those and prioritize them. I'll check on Freeport and Firona Vie soon.

wolf form pretty much turned every old world race faction to a 0 modifier, yet some large negative (kos) modifier to every kunark and future expansion faction from what I recall.

I remember looting fine steel weapons in oggok from groups killing ogre guards (in share wolf form). Pretty sure made them non kos. Also in unrest i remember running around fearless with wolf form on... would have to look up websites to try and get proof.

Wolf Form gave you beta neutral faction. If that helps anything.

I'm also pretty sure that by this point in the timeline most of the major/ridiculous wolf form faction adjustments were removed tho.

I don't remember being KOS with wolf form in FV...

Wolf form should allow you to go to dubious in oggok if you were KoS
was in one of the old guides i was reading on how to build up oggok faction.

I'm positive wolf form made you KOS in Halas.

Also boosts faction with Freeport Militia, as it was often used to make Ikky monks able to go turn in Orc belts

^definitely true.
Also, wolf form definitely made you kos to the gnome pirates in Iceclad. I still have nightmares about that "quick run to pick up some tink boxes before camping".

Does anyone know if wolf form will still make you KOS in Halas? I'm a DE and need to do gnoll fang quest...

wrong place to ask that kind of question. best to just try it out for yourself.

I didn't go the wolf form route and was able to do what I needed to do without all the faction work. Thank God... but I heard from several people that wolf form is still KOS in Halas.

Thats classical
I always found it funny, that the barb faction "Wolves of the North" didn't like you in wolf form. Many a druid has lost their life in Everfrost while killing Mammoth's when they forgot to take off wolfform near a guard
I don't remember being KOS with wolf form in FV...
It wasn't until PoP (or later) that they removed the KOS for wolfform in FV. [edit: iirc anyway. there should be mention of this in the patchnote when it happened.]
Unrest mobs were all non-KOS to wolfform, druids dragged a lot of corpses in Unrest.

Would like to see this fixed in Mistmoore - it looks like it bumps faction a tiny bit (scowling to threatening) but you used to get up to dubious (or indifferent possibly), similar to Unrest in this zone with wolf form. I could tell some stories but I'll spare you the tales of my druid's glory days as you guys seem to require actual evidence. ;)
Also, regarding the Maid room (I think butler only had 2 spawns) but I was in there yesterday and the maid room had 3 NPCs in it - this is not classic. See this post from 2000 for specifics about this: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/zones.html?zstrat=63&p=2#m96955668617082
Yes, it's a trivial issue but it makes the room easier to camp and is classic.
Here's a post (1st one 2nd page) for Unrest - I can't find one yet for mistmoore but it was the same concept: http://thedruidsgrove.org/archive/eq/t-2049-p-2.html
Yea it's from 2003 but apparently there is a patch that happened later on which removed the faction changes that wolf form gave.

Is this known?

Wolf Form is KOS to Druids in Fironia Vie
The city governments have been enacting leash laws lately to try and curb the number of strays running wild through the cities. Wolves that aren't on leashes (e.g. a pet) will be attacked and killed on site by many of the guards.
ThatÂ’s an RP reason anyway and I thought some might get a kick out of it :)
OOC:
Most NPCs were viewing a druid in wolf-form as a BetaNeutral NPC, instead of as a wolf. This was fixed a few weeks ago in many of the cities, and should have been in the patch message.

Not only was it not in a patch message (unless it went up today), it's a
bad nerf. I know that they're fixing something that they left
broken--but after over a year in the game, it's a part of gameplay.
"Fixing" it is not fixing it in this case.

I believe that is known, wolf form used to be mega OP back in the day. I swear you could run around PoH because you were indifferent to all mobs in wolf form, think that was one of the main catalysts for the change.

I was doing research on this recently to implement on TAKP, I posted my findings over there : Link (https://www.takproject.net/forums/index.php?threads/illusion-faction-modifiers.28466/)
I scoured comments and the archives looking for mentions of wolf form where they mentioned specific npcs and if it raised or lowered their faction. I also tried to explain how I think it worked for the most part.
