Hey all, I recently convinced a few friends to play. One of them is set on a Bard and other Shadow Knight.

What would you guys play for the other 2 classes for grouping together?

basically some kind of healer and a dps, check out what you like out of those choices.

Do you think a Cleric is necessary or can a Druid or Shaman main heal the group is what I'm struggling with right now

Shaman + Bard Regen to help downtime would be fine, ive main healed many groups with my shaman. Plus you get slows, sow, and all kinds of other buffs with the shm.

You can wing it with a druid or shaman I think but they don't get "greater heal (300) til 29, whereas the cleric gets it at 24.

Also good to bear in mind that from 39 up if you're all still going that the cleric is able to rez 50% exp back. Rogues/monks aren't hard to find on the server if you ever feel like adding more dps.

Bards and SKs aren't typically big on dps, so the non-healer needs to be something like a monk/mage/rogue to keep you guys ticking along.

EDIT: And dependant on location, an enchanter with a charmed pet works WONDERS! ;)

Warrior + Warrior ftw!

No but seriously, Shaman and Monk would be very solid choices.

Definitely go with a Troll/Iksar Shaman, and a Ranger, yeah!

Shadow Knight, Bard, Cleric, Druid

if ports aren't important, substitute Monk for Druid.

With these 4 you should be able to handle many single group camps in the game as you level.

Wizards suck in traditional groups. Period.

SK won't work out in the long run. Your friend will be level 20 and the others will be level 30 +. Pallys and SK's drop out the most in P1999 because of the Hybrid penality. Maybe a Warrior better choise. Penality sucks on here.

A tank needs to be the highest level toon in the group to work good. They can't hit a red con to them to save their ass. So the SK will always be behind level wise. Not good.

i thought the 40% or what ever hybrid penalty gets split between all members o the group allowing the SK to level at the same rate

In theory, yes.

Eh. Bard has a 40% penalty, and an iksar monk is about that also. They won't be leveling very much faster than a 60+% penalty on a large-race SK.

Besides, the bard can just catch up anyone who needs it by playing for 1 extra hour and doing an AE kite in OT. At level 30+ you can pull 100 mobs in 20-30 minutes, kill them in another 10-20 minutes, and have earned two whole levels if the bard is solo.

Yeah if everyone groups together for all the time they will all be pretty even. But you know they all will solo or be in other groups at times. The SK will fall behind. Yes the Bard has a 40% penality also, but solo he can easily make that up over the SK.
