I would say the "The 15+ years the car has been in my family, it has never had any mechanical issues." sentence definitely implies to knowledgeable users that this car probably requires mechanical work now and if not now, which would be seemingly impossible, then definitely in the near future.

Was just trying to imply that I've never had problems with it thus far. I think it's pretty inevitable that for any car, especially one that is 20+ years old, that you are going to have to put some work into it eventually.

With the cosmetic damages, I needed to fluff up the post as much as I could.

My retardo apartment complex is not allowing me to park it in the parking lot anymore because of the cosmetic damages. Because I live right next to campus, everything around me is permit-parking only, so I really need to get it off my hands before they start boot/towing ugly cars in March.

So bummed I just had to put a new battery in it. Was not wanting to dump $100+ into a car I am trying to get rid of.

Guess it's my fault for not starting the thing for the past eight months, though. QQ.

acura/honda are notoriously bad with batteries, especially when you let them sit. everytime ive bought one (like 5x) is first thing replaced.

They are tanks tho also 90% of anyone who buys that is an enthusiast who is going to put work into it anyway. Personally I'd come by kick the tires and offer 2/3 the price tho because of condition and I am a messianic jew.

your old battery was fine, you could have topped off the cells with distilled water and recharged it with the 25 dollar harbor freight battery charger that you prob don't have but should.

also spending 30 bucks on a back window at a junkyard, 5 dollars on some adhesive strips and putting it in yourself instead of paying mexicans to do the exact same thing for 200 bucks would allow you to resonably ask 1200+

all in all not bad for nearly 2 million miles i suppose

I brought the battery to Auto Zone to have it tested after jumping it wouldn't do anything. They charged it overnight, and got a bad read on it this morning. Bad battery was just bad.

And lol if you think I didn't try to get a windshield for it. Because its an old car and because Acura parts are hard to find in the first place, it was going to cost $800+ dollars. I called at least 40 junkyards looking for any kind of window that would fit, and the only one anyone could find was in china or some shit.

I cant believe you havent put up like a tarp electric tape set up or something for the backwindshield.

autostoned is in the business of selling batteries and is staffed by moron stoners that wish they were mechanics but are not, if you still have your old battery open it, you live in new mexico and said the car had been sitting for 8 months.

that means there is a 90% likelihood it is low on water and/or electrolyte, which in turn means that it will never hold a charge no matter how long the idiots at autozone leave it on their machine. fill each cell with distilled water, shake it up and charge it on the 10 amp setting for a day and the battery will be fine unless it is the same battery that came with the car.

if you cant find a window getting a piece of plexiglass cut and ****** rigging it into position with a few bolts and some window foam would make the car a lot more attractive to buy than one with nothing at all in the back, most people are not going to buy a car with a gaping hole in the back, prob wont even pass inspection as it is currently.

lol @ cars in usa ... you would not be allowed to drive this in germany :) let alone having a buyer for that thing .

as an aside car batteries are the biggest rip off in the auto parts industry the overwhelming majority of the time the battery is fine and just needs a top off and a charge, why do you think they encourage you to bring your old one in to recieve the "20 dollar core charge discount? so they can take the core out, put it in a shiney new plastic holder squirt fresh juice in and sell it to another asshole that doesnt know anything for 100+ bucks thats why.

lets analyze what a battery is, it is a block of lead with dilluted sulfuric acid in it and thats about it.

batteries go "bad" when they......

1> are used on a car with a shitty alternator that does not properly recharge the battery when it is in use

2> sit for a long time, expecially if left on the ground and are allowed to let their charge drain.

3> are in a dry hot climate and the water evaporates leaving it low

4> have been topped off to many times with water and not had any of the acid/electrolyte replaced to keep the ratios in check.

5> are over charged and the solution inside boils out, ruining the electrolyte, oxidizing the lead and making the water low.

6> are so old when you look inside the lead is white instead og gray

all but number 6 is fixable with minor effort

yeah, so all you had to do was fill it up with water, maybe a pack of electrolyse powder and charge it up for a day.

file it away for future reference and dont waste money on batteries.

I've never even heard or a Acura Vigor, lol. Whats the engine, look that up and if its a good engine the Honda/Acura enthusiasts wont care about the cosmetic issues, let alone a cheap as battery fix.

Is it a??? 1.8L? 2.0L? or 2.5L?

No, I spent years building my own cars or repairing others. Nice try ;)

The car is a bucket though, engine or not as their freely available in junkyards across the country. Ive never understood the fascination with honda to honda swaps either. Sitting in a junkyard years back I remember a gang of kids ripping a 1.6 out of some mid-90's honda when parked next to it was a 95' v12 jag. Now it may not be the best motor EVER but its a damn sight more impressive to rock a v12 jag motor in your accord than a 1.6 if one was actually serious about mods in the first place.

Its not even about 4cyl VS 8 VS 6 VS 12 in my book. A 4g63 2.0 with a garrett b16 is more impressive than a 96' 4.6l stang for example assuming the build was top notch. I also love me sone 240/260/280Z action when 350's and up are swapped into them. Holy shit that is a terrifying car to ride along in!

This car has 1825000 miles on it.

One million eight-hundred twenty-five thousand miles. You'd have to drive 60 miles an hour for 3.5 years straight to get that many miles. Should probably fix that typo! Not the least of your problems, maybe =P

I had a 93 Vigor for most of the early 00's its a very nice car. 2.5l strait 5. Good acceleration crisp handling and very smooth at top speeds.

in 2004 my Vigor was stolen, at the time i worked for the insurance company and the adjuster was a friend of mine so i was getting ready to buy me a new car. The last day before they declare it a total loss and never to be returned they find the car. They found it because some lady called the SPCA to complain about the 2 pit bulls locked in a car for the last 24 hours.

The interior was ..well you can imagine. $7800 spent a new interior including new leather seats and a full exterior painting every panel for a $6000 car (back then). Lets just say i bought that adjuster many a drink. Also the thief left me the new link park cd, so i had that going for me as well.

Good luck on your sale.
