There are other emu's out there.
I don't think everything is coming to an end tho.. its just a few vocal trolls.

These posts are quickly growing tiresome. There are 700+ people that play at peak times, losing some SHOULDN'T cripple the server.

I imagine the server is fine. Those leaving hardly make up the majority of the server.
This sort of think happens with any large grouping; people get upset, they take breaks, or move on to something else, and things continue on. If I had to guess, a large portion of the server has no clue what is going on with a few high end players taking breaks, and/or leaving for someplace else.
ETA: 657 online playing right now. I think we are fine :)

When I joined about 6 months ago this same exact thing was going on. The forums were full of doom and gloom, flames, trolls, etc. In fact I think it was worse than this. I don't even know what happened then, all I know is I've never even met most of those involved in this drama, and I've had a fantastic time noobing around on p99.

P1999 is dying? That is seriously news to me.
You must be smoking some good stuff man, you're getting super paranoid. Don't boggart that stuff, pass it :P

We are losing a small, very vocal, very high end-raiding population who really only played when batphoned anyway. We are not losing anything extremely signifigant and the server will go on like always.

We are really only losing the very most self-important among us.
Addition by subtraction, really.

You are losing about 6the of the whinest cheaters ever...imo we are better off for it. Ib was about elitism and wannabe 1% shit. Tmo is about community, hopefully now that a portion of the biggest "rule lawyering" jackasses are leaving we can have more fun times.

The server is only losing something if you are someone who relied on those players who are leaving. Plenty of people level and raid and quest on this sever with minimal interaction with TMO/IB/VD. I for one have a fun time trying to push what content I can solo and trying to push what content my guild can raid. I have zero interest in having a raid target handed to me via joining a guild that regularly kills "everything". All the raid content is new to me, so I am experiencing it how I want to. I could care less if IB or TMO or VD were disbanded, banned from the server, or left of their own will. I so rarely talk or group/raid with any of them, it doesn't matter. What matters is I am enjoying this server, so for me, it is still here and it is still fun.

Server will be fine. All this gloom and doom talk is over-exaggerated .

You are a fucking joke. Community? Bullshit. Look at all our members giving stuff out to the population. I would spend nights during the week doing dungeon runs to hook up newbs in oasis, giving money to new players, talking to people.
Your a peice of shit. We even had an event ready to help level, give gear, and fun out to the EQmac population if their server died. It didn't, so we are giving that gear (that we saved up over a few weeks) to the p99 population.
Check your facts kid before you start running your mouth.
P.S. This is why I am done with the server. It doesn't matter who you become friends with, or even all the good you do. You will run into people like THIS- that always want a peice of the pie, and will do anything ethically and morally wrong to get their point across. I have never cheated in ANY game I have played (I think I had a gameshark for gameboy?)
I can't believe people in your guild hold a straight face saying the things you do. Shame on you.
And let it be known, this is what TMO is all about. Their officers are trolling the forums constantly, spewing propoganda bullshit every post. Have fun shitting up the game.

Wasn't exactly sure what you were going for. Here are some options that may help you in the future.

don think the server will die at all.
However I do feel that more should be done to entice new players to join P99...

This was bound to happen. High end Raiders that become bored. Demanding all kinds of silly crap from the GM's. And now that most at the very top have their epic's what else is there?
Heck, I seem to spend more time myself on the Forums than playing. Maybe its contagious. I guess when and if Velious comes out a lot will be back. Most people just don't have the time to play like they did in their teens. So that adds to the problems also.

Numbers are better now than 6 months ago, summer will help as well. With this type of players, sometimes 700 feels like 2500 anyway. Do we really want 4 groups in Highkeep basement?

The server is getting a huge influx of new players. Its getting new blood everyday. So saved from what?

Actually this just shows how classic the server is. Same arguments went on a decade ago when the heavy duty raiders burned through all the content and then whined. Every time, "EQ is going to die. EQ sucks. GMs don't care, etc." I noticed that EQ is still trucking along spitting out expansions.
EQ is like President Obama. Still not following through on its opponents promises.

Here's a thought: The server is just fine and 90% of the population doesn't give a shit at all about a bunch of entitled babies leaving. I mean honestly, it's classic EQ, what do you expect to do after you're best in slot for everything? Roll alts or kindly get the fuck out.

Can't really imagine they have a marketing budgeting as this is run not for profit.

Remember that word of mouth brings a significant number of new players to the server and so the burden of recruiting falls squarely on the shoulders of current players.
Tell all your friends, Galaa.
I tried because someone messaged me all shady like on mmorpg.com.
"pssssst don't play on live the good stuff is on project 1999"

Already posted in my guild forums (many of whom are ex eq players), however they aren't interested to come back as our guild are currently active in swtor. But one thing I've noticed is that they never heard of P99 at all. Makes me wonder if they had known about it prior to the release of swtor (we all quit rift online and we're gameless for aperiod of time), it might entice them to play in P99 and skip swtor.
P99 is not widely known to many people imo...

This pretty much..
I only found out about P99 after years of not playing everquest..
and only because I bitched so much about the progression server being dumb when i tried it.. people were like why don't you go play P99
so I did ;o
