+1 respect.
I've since moved on to more "fulfilling" fantasy but, this entire author's works were amazing.
My favorite series by far is Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth. It is fucking amazing.

I don't read fiction, but I delve on occasion.
http://ddickerson.igc.org/protocols_english.gif
This was a fascinating one, even if you take it for fiction. In a nutshell it tells you how to take over the world. I only skimmed through it but can see the controversy it has caused, not because of racial matters but because of the wealth of internal information disseminated to the low level peons.
Here's my thread contribution:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/86/Communist-manifesto.png/387px-Communist-manifesto.png
Had to read it (translated obv) for a philosophy class. Marx tells you how to take absolute power by stealth and rule with the iron fist. But you argue that communism is truly a classless stateless society? Then why is it responsible for more systematic state murders than any other form of governance? (watch someone get uppity and say there's never been true communism [iagree, impossible] & wut about theocracy and the crusades/inquisition)
Also basically everything written by Tarpley has changed my life.

The Protocols are interesting in the same way Might is Right, The Anarchist Cookbook and anything by Ayn Rand are interesting: that anyone could actually believe such utter nonsense.

It was definitely written by a major bigot but was still good in that has a lot of truthiness to it though.
also ayn rand awful, anarchist cookbook just trolly

I wanted to like ayn rand because i like some of the ideas of anarchy.. but i just couldn't bring myself to like the pieces of shit she writes.
ps fuck john galt
another fantasy series i'd strongly suggest avoiding is Terry Goodkind's series
I absolutely loved the first novel and had high hopes for the series but by the time i hit the sixth novel it had lost its mojo.
the 7~9th books were utter trash... thats where i stopped reading then i heard they turned it into some trashy made for tv movie lol
I think he just used the series to live out his rape fantasies... it would have been great if he had wrapped up the series instead of letting it spiral out of control... now he died and his son is going to finish it from what i hear.

yah wheel of time was bad also
but not quite as bad as terry goodkind imo lol
both had good starts... shitty middles.. then /rage ends
you are right tho i just checked guess goodkind is still alive.. great.. let the shitty sequels continue.

^Most wonderful book in the world
Odd, a friend of mine just read this and keeps talking about it.
For a real response, no book has affected me emotionally and "immersed" me like:
http://moviecultists.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/house-of-leaves.jpg
And then this book:
http://schoolworkhelper.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Hermann-Hesse-Siddhartha.jpg
Really piqued my interest in Buddhism and caused me to read:
http://blog.mattmecham.com/wp-content/uploads/The_Art_of_Happiness.jpg
And other books by/with the Dalai Lama, which really changed my outlook on life.

Haven't sat down and read Siddhartha, but been meaning to. From what I've gleaned from others who've read it, it's not too different from The Dharma Bums...

..which for me is 2nd only to Down and Out in Paris and London.

FYI Ayn Rand died in 1982, clearly her works were meant for a different time and generation.
Sort of... foolish, to critique her.
