What's going on with the Server (Red Update 2-5-12)

Hi guys :) Consider this your update post as to what is going on because i have been informed several of you feel as though the server is getting no attention.

I assure you that is not the case. Rogean (CSR Management & server admin) has been very busy with work and was sick for a couple of weeks. (Not to mention star wars - DAMN I hate that game ) I do want to remind you that this is our hobby. This is NOT our job. The staff all has real jobs and real families that come before our very fun and time consuming hobby.

With that said, here are a few updates/general statements about the server:


Amelinda is new CSR GM (Covers both red and blue servers)
There are 2 new guides that will be working both servers

Ambrotos
Gratis

Null has made a few changes that will be patched. Changes to channeling for sure.
I am working on trying to talk Rogean into implementing a trial run of global OOC. The global OOC will not be a cesspool. If that is the only reason you want it then i recommend you put your sad face on and sit in the corner because it will be moderated.
Yellow Text will probably NEVER go in on this server because yellow text leads people to do really stupid things to either avoid or achieve yellow text. We are trying to keep the level of poor behavior to a manageable level.

The next Patch - People keep asking when it's going to be. I honestly don't know. It has to be done by Rogean which means he has to have the time to do it. AND just to reiterate - this is his HOBBY. He has a Job. He's been sick. He has a family and friends that he spends time with.


SO don't feel like nobody loves the red server. Nilbog still reads every post and all of the devs are still looking at the bugs forum and fixing bugs. But we don't keep a public list of bug fixes etc and upcoming patch changes. Mostly because sometimes there are changes that should be surprises.

This was the kill that got them banned in the first place, so I would really hope that the loot was deleted.

I have no idea what this is even saying. If you didn't abuse the bug then I imagine they won't punish you? What exactly are you concerned about here?

Also, let the record show that there is no evidence that Nihilum reported any exploits with the encounter (there is, however, evidence that they tried to make the encounter easier, while being extremely evasive about whether an exploit existed; see here: www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=58052&)

Server just needs global ooc badly, have alts I would play - but it just isnt viable with 100-140 ppl online. Probably 10% are in my range and that's being generous - and they are probably off soloing weird random spots anon.

Might not be enough to save it, but I think it will help.

I'm a new player, just started about two weeks ago.

I came to the Red server to play something close to EQ Rallos Zek. I have played almost every MMO released in the last 10 years and don't need another fast level... "dude its supposed to be about the PvP" server. I went for EQ classic because of slow leveling lots of PvE, fighting over spawns, losing corpses, losing gear, losing XP,etc. all the things Rallos had.

After 2 night of messing around in Qeynos, I found a couple folks to group with we played every couple of nights and soon our group grew to four people and over the last few days things exploded and we stared a new guild with about 50 players, 50% newbs, 75% less than 10th level.

It may take a few weeks but as folks level up you should see new faces and more folks to group with at the mid levels on our way to 50.

Never played WoW so I am not sure what you meant by that. I was just suggesting that a exp bonus would benefit the server. It would create a broader base of players that want to play Red99 but do not want to grind full time for a month or two. If you cut down the time it takes to get to max, you get much more pvp and much greater guildvsguild combat.

I do agree that Luclin and AA's were the end of Classic EQ. But I would still like to know what the plans are for the timeline on Red. Since all of the code is already in place for Blue, it shouldn't be too hard to bump Red up a little bit faster.

Please don't let the vocal minority push the release of new timeline content - the majority of the server population is still low level according to the forum poll posted a few weeks ago.

There's only one guild that can now legitimately (from what I've heard) tackle the raid content available.

Also, are we going to be notified of the release of and nerf of the timeline content - I.e. Manastone, Guise, etc. no longer drop and Sol Ro quests in?

This. Lmao @ rogean saying this server is on an accelerated timeline. There is 0 content to do, no plans on any new stuff being released anytime soon, no eta on a patch, and no global ooc. i play this game to fucking hang out and talk with people, not to sit in ghost town areas and be bored as fuck. i definitely would quit this server after a few hours if I had just started at this point and tried to level up; there's no one to play with and no way to find out who there is to play with. i seriously can't believe global ooc has not been put in yet, and recharging/exploited dragon loot has yet to be taken out. (lmao at fallen/cymbal's post, dude is legitimately retarded). Leveling up was hard enough with an awesome group to play with all the time like I had.

Although I suppose this is supposed to emulate 1999 classic, where devs never paid attn/gave any response to pvp servers except the constant reassuring that everything is a-okay despite the pop almost being sub 100 at this point and nothing is being done anytime soon to change that. i give amelinda props and always have, i'm sure if it were up to her a lot of shit would have been changed already, but it's not and the people it is up to seem to care less.

Classic would be a good starting point for us, but we're behind that.
