View Full Version : Runspeed changes based on environment

Sometimes I'll be running(not encumbered) with Jboot effect or SoW and my runspeed will become slow almost as if im walking. People told me that it was just seeming slower but actually I should be running same speed. I tested this and found my character was actually slowing down.
This happens a lot near zone canyons and such and throughout most of Nek forest I found(was a good example at least), another notable place where I've seen it was the rathe mnts zoneline in feerott.
I tested this and found that I am actually running slower by having my summoned pet following me and he is able to catch up/keep up even with Jboots on(whenever im experiencing this phenomenon). Also mobs that normally cant catch me can sometimes catch up and hit me because of the slowdown.
Anyone else experience this and know what may be the cause and or solution?

I always notice this near the zone line going from dreadlands to burning wood.

I think it has something to do with your computer clocking down its speed. Try turning up your graphic settings or do whatever to make your cpu work harder and you should be having your run speed go down less.

I've tried changing everything in the display tab to what sounded the most intense setting, and still no change. Also doing the opposite and putting everything to minimum also doesn't cause any change.

Should also clarify this doesnt happen just with Jboots but also with SoW buff. Anyone know of any way to fix it?

BUMP
Nobody has any clue what could cause this? My laptop can run battlefield 2 so EQ should be no problem. But this has almost gotten me killed a few times cause the mobs catch up when im trying zone =0

Make sure EQ is closed, change your power setting on your laptop to high performance, then open EQ. Make sure your laptop doesn't come unplugged while playing EQ, or anything else that might change your laptops power settings in the middle of play. EQ is effected by clock-speed changes in some cases. Let me know if this is the solution.

I just tried the BIOS Speedtep disable last night.. I'm using a slightly older Dell M6300 Lappy with a 2.4 GHz dual core... so far it seems to have fixed the issue for the most part... just FYI in case you're using a slightly older machine.

Great ! Yea, anything that adjusts the cpu speed of the computer on the fly has the possibility of messing with this in EQ, especially BIOS settings or power-settings.
