Not sure if anyone cares, but there you go.
I will certainly be playing it.
I wonder what will become of p99? Any ideas? I hope it keeps on trucking along, but who knows?

Free to log in more like, 4 class choices, 4 races, 2 bag slots, 250 map AA. Anything more requires money. No thanks.

Still, it has more content than here and if you find a good band of people to play with you could cap yourself at a certain expansion and the low aa cap would not bother you. the game is free up to a certain point, level 75 I think and you only get access to the horribly weak mercs.
And you begrudge buying a few races/classes (however any character you made before can be used no matter the race/class, so go on the free 14 day trial and make some classes in advance before feb 29th) are you one of those that do not support this server?

I think it will...Mostly because alot of the people that play here probably want to continue playing classic EverQuest, and enjoying all the classes and races for free.I doubt that EQ will keep alot of the players playing for free if your choices are limited. On the other note,P99 is here to stay for me. :P

I know I won't be giving SOE any of my money. I gave them enough in the 5 years I played EQ and they need to pay it forward.
What's going to happen when I log in old Blither? Will I not be able to equip some things? Will I not be able to go to expansions that I bought and paid for? Because I'll tell you right now that if I don't have access to that stuff it's going to piss me off enough to never log in again.

Are the mercs limited to apprentice mercs? If so, that sucks, they run away too often. Anyway, the only servers worth playing on live is the progression servers and they have already gotten to a point of unlocking PoP. They did raise the shitty exp cap to 4%/kill solo( up from 2%) for noobs. But old world content is really buggy. Junk.
This is far superior than anything soe can produce. If sol is released here I'm out for sure. I hope they keep this going.

Velious is the last stop for P1999, no plans to go further.

That's cool. The velious content is my favorite. I did some hard core poop sock solo grinds with my old druid back in 03/04. It was epic.

There has always been interest in a true, classic server. P99 is the closest we'll ever get to that, and the best years of EQ were in the Trilogy. No other game I have played has had the "magic" that the original EQ had.
Retrogaming is a huge too. Let's be honest. Classic EQ is retrogaming, and P99 excels in delivering that. Modern EQ is watered down, bloated, and a programming mess.

For the vast majority of us who have played before (and somehow remember our username), we'd be in the "silver" category.
There are 2 problems with this move. The first is the AAs. My main had like 3k AA when I quit many years ago. I'm sure there are new AAs worth getting, but because of the 1k AA hardcap, I can't get any of them. And I'm sure as hell not giving SoE any more of my cash. This cap alone is by far the biggest problem. I remember getting my fiancee's cleric leveled up and she was really gimp until she got around 500 (ish?) AA and got most of her basic healing stuff done. That was years ago, how many new and just as important AAs are there now? Probably alot I'd guess.
The second big issue is that it doesn't sound like there's any way to earn or unlock things via playing, similar to LOTRO. LOTRO you can earn Turbine Points (Station Cash, whatever) just by grinding out different quests. Takes a HELL of a long time to do but theoretically you can play the entire game without having to spend a dime. No such luck with SoE. All the minor annoyances and restrictions on the "silver" level will be with you PERMANENTLY unless you pay up and continue to pay up.
To make a long post short, no thanks. Not worth it :D

I wonder if SOE has any idea how much they may be shooting themselves in the foot here. Let's see if any of you have the same thing in mind I have:
I'm going to back to Live EQ, temporarily.
I'm going to ride my Holy Steed around in as many of the 400+ zones as I can survive in and see the sights from all the expansions I missed.
I'm going to say "HI!" to all of my old guildies and get back in touch with dozens of them that I haven't seen in many years.
Then I'm going to convince as many of them to come here as I possibly can, and NEVER log back into Live EQ again.

Yeah, save it for the serverwide chat channels... ;)

I wouldn't, while SOE are happy to ignore P1999's existance. I'd hate to have their great eye turned upon us because players are loudly recruiting for P1999 in possibly monitored channels.

Heh, well I wasn't going to /shout in POK about it or anything. Just a whole lot of /tells. :)

You will get some people, but not many.
Having to do corpse runs and losing 10% of a level or 2 hours of grouping for a single death isn't the idea of fun that many in EQLive share. Many are "too old for this shit" from what I gathered.

I agree with Odeseus. The restrictions are so harsh it just makes it not worth playing F2P EQ because you can't do much with it. If you want to do anything worthwhile you have to pay the sub. Tradeskillers are completely hosed with it. Not to mention the huge expanse of the game will make it hard to find people in some zones. The entire orientation of the game is set up to get players from lvl 1 to lvl 90 in as short a time as possible. However, upon arrival at lvl 90 no character is going to get much done unless they get the increased power spells, skills, and AAs.
I really am looking forward to EQNext which I assume will be F2P, but if they keep these kind of restrictions in, what's the point of it being F2P other than to get a look at the game before purchasing it?

Deezle and I have the same goal. Our old guild is functionally dead there, but scores of them (it was huge) may log back in, at which point they'll get a /tell about P99 and what we're doing here.
Screw SOE. They'll get nothing from me.
Oh, and I'm looking forward to running my old uber bard all over at hyperspeed, laughing as mobs try to cast on me with my 500+ in all resists. :P

What happens to those that played EQ Live many years ago and want to come back for this, but can't play their toons, us equipment, or any of that stuff?

I guess I'm sorta curious where my toon is and stuff. I haven't logged her in in years now. And it seems noone I really had contact with still plays; we found each other on Facebook and stuff. A few are here though ;-)
It's really only memories now. EQ Live just isn't the same. Killing CT over and over and over hoping for a Soul Leach and poopsocking Trak were great times, but that's why I'm here.
