I've been using my webcam software to capture video. Im not thrilled about the quality.

Any recommendations? I don't mind spending monies.

Also, if anyone knows of any inexpensive video capture hardware I could use to capture it from my one laptop to the other that would also work with my Xbox I'd love you (I've been wanting to capture some skyrim stuffs). HD quality is a necessity!

You need a capture card. People mainly use the Dazzle capture cards. They look like this (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Dazzle/Dazzle+Video+Archiving/Dazzle+Video+Creator+Plus+HD.htm) and price range varies from 40$ up.

Program:
http://www.xsplit.com/

Everyone use it to cast on twitch TV for steaming but u can also record ur gaming session. Bitrate / sound quality / resolution etc... lots of option.

Now for Hardware, (capture video game on console) go with this :
http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/

or for less money :

http://www.avermedia.com/product/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=530

Both can capture HD with HDMI output (so sound + image)

Of course if ur PC can handle it, u don't need any hardware card to capture a PC video game. For console u need one.
