Seeing how awesome the river running down from Thurg looked for the first time.

Hunting Tizmaks up on the hillside near Thurg ZLine.

Entering Velks Lab for first time and seeing lv55 players with amazing items duoing entry mobs.

My first "special" item ever, being Silver Chitin Hand Wraps that I bought with 99% of my plat savings from a nice person for a good deal compared to their back then, current market price.

Waiting a week for a chance to obtain "Sword of Pain" from velks lab and being around lv 40 iirc.

Rarely seeing top end players with the most awesome custom helms for their race/class.

Watching higher level guilds stage before moving in on a Dain raid in Ice Well Keep, and getting so excited at opportunity of loot right to the blue plate armor they can uncommonly drop.

The awesome weapon designs.

Spending a week in Velks top shelf trying to hit 60 from 59. 18 hour days.

Tower of Frozen Shadow will probably always be my biggest Velious memory. It was the first time EQ really felt super-atmospheric to me back on Live. That and the bridge from IC to EW. Those first moments of Velious really haven't been topped in a game since.

Edit: First trip to Skyshrine, first Kael raid were also big moments.

I think a lot of old(er)-world content will be BYOG, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. CoM is like this right now, and it's still an awesome zone.

Velious was the nuts for expansions IMO.

I remember the first time running into Lodizal was pretty epic. The Ring war was also very very cool as well.

Jumping from ice berg to ice berg in Ice clad.

I just remember spending a boat load of time in velk lab, mainly up on the top shelf.

My experience of Velious more comes from levels 30-50. It started off in Iceclad Ocean hunting snow cougars. Then moved into fighting at Ry'gorr fort. Then the Pinnacle of my EQ memories is Crystal Caverns, my favorite dungeon and favorite memories come from this place.

I was rushed when I created this thread:

Kael; just the zone in general. Had a blast pulling Vindi/Statue and all that bullshit as a monk; was insanely fun.
Tower of Frozen Shadow: Best zone in the game. Working your way to the top level is just so damn rewarding.
Velketors: Such a fun exp zone; frenzy or kobold camp: having a bard join just to afk and play mana song so we could exp throughout the night.
Dragon Necropolois: Epic for it's time.
and of course, ToV: Just all around one of the funnest zones to pull.
Soloing Crystal Caverns as a monk; doing big things there. (somehow on blue, I feel monk AC/mitigation is totally fucked...I have trouble soloing dark blues without dying; back on live, I remember dinging 50 soloing LDCrawlers, now (here), they eat my butthole from the inside out.)

this was a broken code in the game that was known about but never fixed until along time later. does the current client we run on p99 already have the fixed coding implemented ? Things like this were classic, and certain dev's like to think "it wasn't supposed to be there, so i wont add it."

Awesome weapon models (ND, PHF, Primal Spear, etc.).
New armor textures (DE's get awesome looks, Humans can finally ditch their tin-cans, etc.).
Lots of high-end content (Sleepers, ToV, Skyshrine, Kael, Ring Wars, Velks, WW, etc.).
Faction wars (Dwarf v. Giant v. Dragon).
I was still leveling during this expansion on Live, I'm going to have a blast seeing it here on P99.

Just off the top of my head, a few memories that come to mind.

1) As someone previously mentioned, zoning into ST for the first time.
2) Late night NToV raids and associated shenanigans.
3) Zoning into Velks and promptly witnessing someone plummet to their death via sliding off the side of upper frenzy.
4) Seeing how many dragons one could train in WW.
5) Seeing Lord D'whateverthefuckever and thinking it was a mistake at first.
