View Full Version : Game Mechanics: Neriak Foreign Quarter Pathing

I've noticed that quite a few of the level 50 ogres / trolls in Neriak Foreign Quarter are warping through the ground/walls/ceiling if you attempt to solo them. I remember this being an off-the-beaten-path leveling spot back in the day, but the pathing here makes it nearly impossible.

When you would fear them back on live, their default fear path would take them through the small, cramped tunnel towards the back, whereas now they decide they want to randomly walk on top of the buildings and so forth. If they do enter the tunnel, they begin falling through the world, eventually warping right on top of you/near you, preventing any LOS while they're doing so.

Any help / clarification would be appreciated.

I'd like to update this post with some evidence to my point; I tried to find the original post by Sslyther, but finding just about anything on a temporarily-revived version of eq.castersrealm.com is difficult.

As you can see if you read sslyther's original post, this information was created right around early-PoP (because he was debating the NFQ spot vs. PoDisease), and the fact that the pathing was still bugged at that point in the game leads me to assume that this was the way it had always been in regards to the pathing of the aforementioned ogres/trolls in NFQ.

Every target will follow an exact fear path and will end up at the small tunnel, pacing back and forth (as long as you keep Dooming and Fear on.)

The next link is a post from 6/29/02 back on zam (yes, I realize many of these dates aren't in the era we're currently in, but after having checked patch notes during kunark, they did not mention anything concerning bug-fixes taking place in Neriak FQ.)

HP is in the high 7000s. Can pull him and won't aggro anything else in the arena.

The HP estimate is correct, as his hp is 7,219.

Oh, forgot to add, Karnan is currently giving faction hits to "The Dead" faction, which he shouldn't. ZAM states he's only on NeriakTroll faction, and Sslyther's guide only names Capee, Uglan, and Svunsa as the npc's which will give you negative Dead faction.
