I don't play red99 anymore since beta.... I noticed that also the Server pop has gone down dramatically ( about 2/3 to 1/2) from what it was. I think this is an issue of experience rate... as I already have had this vote up prior to beta closing, now since you has seen cause and effect first hand, I would liek to take another vote. I for one want it because even if I'm not boxing I want to get characters to level 50 so I can focus on PvPing and getting loot. Or making mid level char's like 30ish and 20 to PVP in but I would like to also try other classes that I normally wouldn't because of the lengthy grind. If I don't see a Exp increase ... it's all good because I plan on getting Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 regardless. But No trollers and serious input / debate appreciated.

i voted no. i am not level 50, not even close. the only xp increase if any should be for the first 15 levels, so new people dont get discouraged right out of the gate. the reason i picked 15 is because that is when the hybrid classes get the full first tier of spells.

I'm not sure where you get this idea that anyone who prefers a classic exp rate is somehow pathetic or has no life. I haven't logged in for a few days because, get this, I have a real life and I go to school full time. I play this game in my spare time, which varies depending on how busy I am. What a hard concept to grasp. However, I am still reasonably high leveled because I know how to manage my time when I do play. Instead of making the game adapt to you, why don't you try adapting to the game?
And even if you were right, this is a red herring because this project was conceived by the staff who wanted to make a classic pvp server. That's their vision. Whatever opinions we may have about what server the other prefers, the fact is that this one is meant to recreate some interpretation of classic eq, and to please the demographic that likes things like boats, slow exp, spell research, etc. It's not a democracy - this server wasn't made for you.
edit: also the jab at my guild is a little unfair. I thought you were civilized but I guess I was wrong. I don't speak for everyone in my guild, I'm sure some of them prefer faster exp, whatever, they're allowed to think what they want. And to say we don't pvp at all is moronic, we vanquish griefers on the regular and I have non-doctored screenshots to prove it (screenshots that I took because I'm a total bro who's totally not insecure about himself)

binding the xp rate to it being 'classic' is a very INTERDASTING concept.

How many former VZ/TZ/RZ do you really think are looking for a long slow grind? Do you think that maybe those players enjoyed the PvP part of the game more than the PvE part, and might have skipped playing here in 2012 because we just had to stubbornly cling to this idea of "classic" exp?

Yeah I've said all that before.
Here's another thing: nobody will quit or not play here because it's easier to get to level 30.
If I was not absolutely sure that it would benefit the server, I would not have penned that mini-novel thread about it. Lazor if you want to be "civil" then maybe start by not referring to people as "VZTZ scrubs" which will just put you in the company of Harrison.

I think what we can agree on here is that there are way too many fucking options. This is almost an exact replica of the Republican Nominees race....
Romney barely leads Paul barely leads Santorum...
And the rest don't give a fuck.
I think most people would be happy with the 2x over 0x rather than 3x+
Remember how bans were meaningless with the vztz xp rate that you are calling for? Think it might lead to more exploiting and training if you reduce the xp rate?

The slow grind and the pvp part of the game are intertwined. On emu servers with fast exp the strategy was always to just go to some desolate area of Norrath and avoid pvp while PLing yourself and your friends to 50. The people who want a server with more mid-level pvp, where your decisions have consequences, where if your character is banned it actually means something, where you have to have more than a few brain cells to be able to level to 50*, are the people who want classic exp.
Most of you are looking at this the wrong way. The point isn't to level to 50 as soon as possible. You should be happy logging in, dinging once, and then logging off to take a shower or go outside. Only with classic exp can you thoroughly experience different phases of your class's development and not breeze through it like the different levels don't matter. Being a caster with fast exp is meaningless when you can get your next spells in less time than it takes to run to the spell merchant. For a Mage, levels 1-3 are supposed to be the levels where you want to shoot yourself for not having a pet yet. For a Bard, levels 1-7 are the levels where you have to adapt to not having stringed instruments (and levels 35+, where you have to learn to group, or find another efficient soloing method). For an Enchanter, levels 1-11 are the levels where you don't have charm. For every caster, they have to be extra careful for those first 11 levels where they don't have bind, or else they might be in for a hellish corpse run. The game is supposed to test you and force you to adapt to the limitations of your class at different stages of its development. This aspect of the game is completely trivialized with fast exp. It makes no difference that Bards are slow levelers before level 8 (because they can't modify their dot with a lute yet), when the journey to level 8 only takes an hour.
This is a huge part of classic eq. It's not some negligible, tedious annoyance that the devs kept in "just because it's classic". It's actually an important part of what people enjoyed about the game. I don't know how else to explain this.
*(before you say that grinding ability doesn't imply skill, keep in mind it implies the ability to hold a camp for longer and to be able to survive longer. It also tests your ability to level at an efficient rate (read: not solo a light blue every 20 minutes). All of these things require some level of skill)
Lazor if you want to be "civil" then maybe start by not referring to people as "VZTZ scrubs" which will just put you in the company of Harrison.

Just casually logging in and dinging once? Good luck on a melee or hybrid... An increase to exp doesn't invalidate any of your points lazor, no one wants to be able to get to 50 in a week. You cannot deny that the population is declining or that it has declined. It is also pretty clear that it is a result of the slow grind. I don't care about mid-lvl pvp and I cant imagine to many people do. People play here to pvp at 50 and even more so, to pvp with a large population. I was excited to log in and see 400+, 300+ and even 200+ people playing, just hoping that by the time I got to 50 there would STILL be that amount playing.
As it stands now, I have a lvl 35 pally and I don't imagine I'll be 50 for at least another month. I just hope there is enough people still playing to make that month worthwhile and it seems the only way that is possible is with an increase to exp.

+1 lazors post.
The game means something. yes, we like to pvp, but eliminating the grind eliminates much of the game. You might as well just remove half the zones and dungeons and have everybody meet up at solb and lower guk to duke it out for mana stones and ykeshas. Fuck that, eq is more than that.
