Lets just put it this way. Ranger drops his Wurmslayer on the ground, accidently while swapping his weapons and doesn't realize its gone until 5 minutes later when its not in his inventory.

Tank#1 picks it up off the ground before Ranger see's it and doesn't say anything.

So if i decide to be a P99 Douchebag, and keep the weapon without telling him,
because he was a dick to me before...
(im sure if he petitions the GM can see that it was picked up off the ground)

can you be banned for this offense?

Someone did a drop transfer once, and when they logged on the new character, it was gone. I think they posted a bug in the bug forum about vanishing items. A GM posted the logs in response of who picked it up. Everyone got a good laugh out of it, but as far as I know, the bagman never got banned.

It will probably end up on the forums and you'd be infamous. Not necessarily in a good way. And it will end up in someone's sig and your reputation will be impacted. Food for thought.

If this ranger doesn't read this and instantly know you jacked his shit... He deserves it

I doubt you'd be banned for picking something up off the ground. You might be asked to give the item back, that's about it.

Why not just give it back anyway? You'd probably make a friend out of it

This happened to me on Live and Sony did nothing about it. I understand why and I didn't throw a fit over it (it was a valuable sword). Basically they said if you drop it, it's fair game. Lesson learned.

Persdonally...I'd give it back to him and tell him I'm not a jackoff like he is.

if it's not a dragon, you should let it rot on the ground.

Put it back where you found it imo.

IMO, just by doing what you have already done, you have become what you called him. Give it back.

Why whether you like the person who dropped something accidentally has anything to do with the question escapes me:
The key here should be whether you like yourself. Because only if you have no respect for yourself, would you be willing to take advantage of someone else's misfortune.

Give it back. I have done this myself and had someone run by and pick it up. I asked if they had seen it and thankfully it was returned, (100% reduction bag). I gave him 100pp for doing it because I was glad to have it back.

Because 100pp is clearly as good as 5000pp.

Here's the general rule: if you have much more than them, give stuff away. If they have much more than you (is a Wurmslayer like the awesomest item you've ever gotten?) then you're probably in the trenches when it comes to wealth and the economy and you should fight for every scrap you can get until you have enough to be comfortable.

that depends. do you want to become a douche just because he acts like one?

I Got suspended on live for doing this well over 20 times... Finally the gm was like your ruining peoples playtime and decided to suspend me for a week. Though I got to keep the items. You see back in the day you could only inspect items through the trade window. Well before all the iksar monks knew about tinker bags etc. + some of the twinks. You ask to see their items 8 of them to be exact. Just about 5 out of 10 monks would end up dropping items on the ground. Which you pick up LOL... Gotta love monks. Good memories doing this. Sure it was a dick move , but at 13 years old I didn't give a shit.

training newbs is one of the best things ever

when bard charm had it's little ghetto fade effect on this server back in the day I used to drop sand giants and spectres on groups at the orc highway lol

the best parts were the /shouts

they didnt know it was a mob I dropped there they thought it was just random pathing.

and before all you losers complain to me, anyone I killed I gave 1kpp if they didn't bitch at me. Sometimes I would save them at like <5% and they'd be all happy haha.

back in early 2010 that was a good chunk of change.

Is there a way to find out in-game names of people who post here?

falkun

Some people list themselves on the wiki Player List (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Player_List). Others you learn because you've trolled this forum long enough to know who's-who. Others you're pretty sure you know because you've trolled here long enough, but you're not 100% sure. Then there are the new faces you won't know for a while because they're new, and finally there are the forum names of people that just troll the forum and that don't even play P99 (or at least not anymore).
