Gonna reply to you separately from the other shitstorm of a thread, which is all over the place. I kind of just wanted to post about staff communication here.
So... I've been on the other side. I know how it can turn into your second job (and it's a thankless one at that), so I am not trying to judge or disrespect. Fact is, I did a pretty poor job of it myself.
Keep in mind that with hardcore gaming communities in particular, the most vocal players are often the ones who care the most. They may bitch, whine, act negative/immature, and generally go about things the wrong way - but most of them care, or they wouldn't be posting here.
Do you think coming at him with tons of public threads about how much his server sucks really is a way to make him listen to you at all???? If you think that's how to get people to listen to you then you need to go to charm school or something.
The "server sucks" troll threads - no. I'm actually surprised some of them haven't been moderated.
But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed my thread didn't get any kind of real response. I made it a point to stay as rational and constructive as possible. I think players have pointed to a lot of the same issues even before I created that thread, and that these same issues (exp rate being the big one) will continue to pop up here until someone with dev authority actually addresses them. Regardless of how much of a trollish mess it is, when was the last time Rogean or Null even posted here?
A brief "here's what you can expect" post would go a long way.
Or a "shut the fuck up, things are staying exactly as they are" post. Or a "we may not be replying to these threads, but we care + we're discussing things internally" post to let players know that this server isn't some neglected plant that nobody wants to water.
Due thanks to you and Uthgaard for at least engaging the players, but it really needs to come from the people running the server. If they don't have time, then they should find more help. There's no lack of passionate players in the red community who would volunteer. Right now nobody knows if the people behind the curtains are even listening, and that is a problem.
