Hey guys, I played eq when the game launched in 99. I played a woodelf ranger. I remember there being a low level armor quest (Trueshot Chainmail) given by Samatansyn Flamecaller in the rangers guild, but I don't remember if it was part of the original game or if it was added later on. I did some searching before I posted this and couldn't find anything. Anyone know? I don't expect much help but it's worth a shot. Thanks for the help!
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

Newbie armors did not exist in classic. Ranger armor goes: what you find on mobs (typically cloth) -> banded (pretty cheap from a PC blacksmither) -> Ivy Etched (http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Ivy_Etched_Armor_Quests) -> Planar/Mithril -> Tolans (Kunark) BP/Legs. By the time that list is out of date, you should know your class well enough to disagree with me.

Thanks for the reply.. I guess you needed to throw that insult in at the end. Sorry I don't remember everything that occurred almost 13 years ago. I guess I'll need to work on that!

It takes a a lot of character to be a ranger. Definitely not for the weak! :p

That end comment wasn't meant as an insult, but more as a "catch-all". That gear path took about 2 seconds to throw together, and is by no means definitive. I was just stating that by the time you realize that my list is not definitive, you will have gained enough knowledge of the ranger class that you won't need to ask for a non-ranger's opinion on gear, you'll know what pieces are and are not gear upgrades for you.

My apologies falkun. I might have taken it the wrong way. I wasn't necessarily asking for a "gear path".. I was asking if the Trueshot Chainmail armor quest was part of the original eq content. I would've posted in the ranger specific section but I couldn't find it :p
I did some searching on the world wide web, but I couldn't find an answer, so I reluctantly asked here :)
Anyway I appreciate your help.

Sadly, the P99 forums do not have class-specific sub-forums. Posting in Server Chat was your best course. Hasbinbad tried making a Rogue "corner" on the P99 forums, but I don't think that has taken off with the other classes.
Good luck to you!

banded sells for 1pp per AC. and here are some cheap pieces that you can find in EC to augment:
straw spun belt ac10 50p
azure sleeves ac12 50-75pp
iksar scaled gloves ac10 100pp
tattered mantle ac12 150p
bracer of vajeen ac10 100p
and def get a silver swiftbalde 14/24 2hs 300-450p. that weap should take you to the mid thirties.
if you need plat, go to qeynos hills and do the rabid wolf hide hand in. its boring but you can rack up 1kpp in a couple days at low level and earn solid exp while doing it.
i did it till about level 12 and bought all that junk plus a tree weave.

I've spent all my coins trying to get my fletching skill high enough to make the trueshot longbow. I was able to gather all the materials myself at level 6! I forgot that I needed to be a master fletcher as well though ugh
