Programs that essentially are 3rd party programs that when activated will spam the same key over an over.
IE I could have it spam 1 and it would activate whatever is in my hotbar slot 1 over and over.
Are these allowed? Basically with the forage %ages being lower than I'd hoped, this would make it not so boring but I'm curious what the staffs stance is on programs such as this.
They don't modify the client at all, are run outside of it and are basically like high-tech keyboards that are able to do the same thing just in a different way. They are allowed on Live but before I'd use it here, I'd like a yes/no from someone of importance on if this is okay to use.
foraging for epic that bad eh?

I believe it is allowed if you don't use it for afk boting, aka foraging while asleep and stuff like that.

If your character is doing something, and you're not around to answer, you may find yourself in some precarious situation when you return.

Just bind one of the hotkeys to A, D, W, or A to raise it. It happens as you run around. Just spent a few hours helping noobs out in some zone as it raises.
If you are attempting to forage something in a random zone, put on a movie, and just run around in circles or something and glance at the screen every few seconds??

This is likely against the rules, and if someone petitions you doing it, you *will* be suspended/banned.
See here:
- Any type of program or script that gives you an unfair advantage (eg. MacroQuest, ShowEQ or packet modification) will result in an instant ban with no lenience. Cheating will be ruled with an iron first regardless of who you are.
This would classify as a script that gives you an unfair advantage versus people who do not have the script, and imo, is no different than macroquest macros.
I am sure saying "I was AFK botting my foraging skill" in a petition will not help you either.
That being said, if you are at the keyboard and initiate the keystrokes (IE; G15) that's not something they really have the right to police, as the G15 sends raw input to the computer and there is no way of telling the difference.
If you hit the macro on your keyboard and go afk, though, and they find out... Your account is gone. Pretty simple rules.

K just figured I'd question it here before I bothered. It is allowed and usable on EQLive but I figured you guys would take a somewhat different approach to it, and thought asking would be better.
Only 1 forage to go anyways :P.
Well thanks for the response.

It is easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission. Also you probably wouldn't get banned, I mean people used mq and showeq for 2 years and they didn't end up get banned.

So we as players are required to answer tells? Magical purple messages sent through time and space ruin my immersion as a role player.

I am fail to see how magical messages in a magical world can ruin the immersion :)
If gods have sent you a message and you do not reply- I am pretty sure they will get angry :)

If my master, the great Solusek Ro sends me a so-called "tell", then I will certainly respond for fear of his fiery wrath.

keep in mind, that the Great Ro has better things to do, than to send a mere mortal a "tell" personally - he has minions, also known as Gms, who take responsibility of communicating his will to the lesser beings :D
what if he sets up a duck that moves with water like homer j simpson did
