After Patch 1/2/12 Characters Missing Cant Login

I started playing last week and everything has been fine until todays downtime. The game loads fine but my characters all say Unkown like when I first started playing. And when I click on one I get disconnected. Please help. I play on Kunark server and it shows people online.

This patch contains new files. Please obtain the latest EQChanges V20 from the setup guide, or obtain the latest files via the EQEmu Launcher.

This is my first 1st patch since I started playing p99.
It sounds like whenever there's a patch, the easiest way to patch it is to download the new eqchanges file and extract it into your Everquest folder, correct?

Correct. Just extract the new spells file into the Everquest folder. Pretty easy, really. Make sure you overwrite any old files.
