Hi there,

i acidently stumbled across this project a few days ago, which looks very good.

I made my EQ injection from 1999-2003 (Ayonae Ro Server: Highlvl Guilds: Casus Belli - Troll Shaman - Schande; Landslide - 65 Iksar Monk - Aule / 65 DE necro, forgot his name).

I am thinking on giving project1999 a try after a 8 years break.

My question is, does it make any sense to create a non-solo class char like a monk there atm? (talking about iksar of course :) )

Cheers,
Peter

There are a lot of low level people.. finding groups isn't really a problem.. only class ive seen people actively hate on so far in game is ranger.

Every time i mention inviting a ranger everybody thinks im joking heh

you can almost always find groups, but for a first character. I'd suggest a Druid for making plat or possibly a necro for soloing camps later on.

As a monk, you won't be making much plat to fund much of anything.

If you can manage it, I'd say playing a monk and a druid back and forth would be the best option.

Ayonae Ro ftw.

Played a lowbie in Lost Fires in the classic/Kunark days (49 pal - Jbob)

Ieatmidgets - 56 wiz - Fellowship of Dragons
Greenie - 65 sham - Fellowship of Dragons
Gathan - 70 BL - Rest in Peace

I started here a few months ago myself, having played live in the same time frame. I second the "start with druid or necro" suggestion, you'll probably be able to level and gear a second character of any class faster with the material support of your resource-gatherer toon.

Also suggest starting with a solo class. It isn't so much that you need to be a solo class because groups are hard to find, but more that solo classes are good for getting money together. Druid is a good one since, while it won't make you super rich, you can start selling ports early and get some cash together. Probably your best bet if your intent is to specifically make a character to raise some cash for a future melee main.

Of course if you have your heart set on playing a certain class, then by all means do so.

Monks solo just fine. Level 26 Monk here and soloing. Enjoying it way better than my Necromancer. I do miss being able to bind myself anywhere.

Thanks again for your input!
I guess, i will start a Troll shaman (max wis, rest stam), regenerating & snaring deity of Innoruuk.
And maybe later switch back to a lizzy monk.
Well my biggest concern so far is if i can manage the evercrack doses, was way to hardcore back in those days.
