Well Item Linking SHOULD BE Taken Off because its not classic and makes the game easier.

uhmm item linkage dont prevents people from travelling to a zone to sell their stuff. I know the links are not classic but the only difference is you just dont have to list all the stats of an item when you want to sell it.....the links just make the "typing" easier not the game.

I love how everyone always ignores the people who were here and playing back when global channels were turned off. I was for it until it was taken out for a few days. I am no longer for it unless we see a population increase to about 1,000 on off peak hours.

The amount of people who simply stay anonymous here is also something to consider when removing global channels. Remove them, and you have to go back to sending tells to get groups together with 1/5th the population that a live server had back in classic. Unable to /who anonymous people? good luck getting a fucking group together. (And before you go, well people will have to take off /anon and go back to /lfg! No, they won't, just like EC tunnel will never come back. Take druids for example.. although they would like a decent group, many will solo with /anon on happy enough that they aren't being bothered. It's bad enough to find healers at 3am who actually want to do shit now.)

I could go to GFAY back in the day on my server and sell and make trades for just about anything in a matter of minutes. On this server? Yeah I mean I guess its how you interpret those results. Alot of votes went for when the population increases. "When the population increases" is very unclear, some people may have voted for that with a small increase or maybe people want to wait till 1000+ all the time. Wasn't a very good poll. Regardless, I think there will be a surge in population once the server reopens, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it around 800-900. So, I still stand by my belief that once the server reopens more people will want global occ turned off then on. I'm pretty sure someone will make another thread on this in a week or so haha, and then we can see.

Rogean posted in another thread that if he got the server wide chat channels going would the people who liked the current global OOC be content with its removal. I definitely think this would be the way to go and we could go that way now.

Global channels serves a few purposes:

- Finding groups (lets face it, its not as easy right now as it was on live, even with global ooc)
- Selling Items (again, lets face it, going to EC/GFAY was a trading mad house that this server will most likely NEVER reach)
- General Discussion (most zones here are empty due to low pop, or have few people in them, but it is an MMO and people like to talk).
- Answering Questions to new players (Somewhat falls into General Discussion)

I think the reason MOST people seem to have an affront to these channels is because they are AUTOMATICALLY joining them on creation and 60% of the stuff posted in global OOC has no relation to the game (but it is OUT OF CHARACTER). This, "it makes the game easier" argument is really not valid until we hit 2,000+ non-peak like live.

Adding in global chat channels could solve MOST peoples complaints by splitting up these purposes into separate channels that should remove a lot of the nonsense.

LFG channel could be made so those pesky druids who like to sit /anon could still see groups looking for more.

General channel could be created for newbie questions or for Finawin to turn it into WoW Barrens chat. ( ;) )

EC/Auction/GFAY channel, well, you know what goes here.


(Also, I might add, if Rogean does make these changes, it should be added to the setup guide that if you need help try joining "general" or whatever general channel gets used/created)

For the extremely popular zones this exists. But back in the day, not just 1 zone for every level range was filled, they all were.

Don't know how you had problems finding groups back in '99, I remember seeing 15 people levels 1-10 just fighting at goblin camps in Butcherblock. Has anyone ever made a goblin fighting group in Butcherblock on this server?

I can just hope we can get this huge population back we had on live; im working on it i think few people already started cause i told them of p99. I made some posts in old eq1 guild forums, and sometimes i mention p1999 on the global chat on my eq2 server. I can just encourage people to make some advertise i believe there are still many many people out there who would LOVE to play here if they only knew about the server.

If you want global ooc to be closed go get some friends to play here and it eventually will :)

100's of posts with most peeps supporting their opinion with "cause I said so" like typical idiots.

Lets break this down and make it real easy.

1. Either both auc and ooc stay global or both go non global, you think the idiots telling sex stories on ooc will respect the auc channel and not go there if ooc is gone?

2. Global ooc helps the uninformed and less capable. Every gaming session I respond to peeps asking questions in ooc multiple times. If we get along I put them on friends and I keep in touch with them, helping them along. Not once was one of these persons in the same zone with me.

3. Global Auc helps the uninformed and less capable. I have sold 20+ eebags in the week b4 serverdown. Anyone who knows this camp knows it can be duoed at 30 and soloed at 40. Only the uninformed or less capable would buy this bag. I count myself on the lower end of the capable. How long would I spend auctioning this bag in EC or Nfree? Mebe 10 minutes at the end of my day at best, my assumption is those that are more capable than me wouldn't auction much at all, they have better ways of spending their time.

4. Portals. I have ported peeps at least 200 times, mebe 1% of those were peeps in the same zone as I was. Do me a favor and sit in Ferrott waiting for a druid to arrive that is willing to then port u back out, then post that we should eliminate global ooc.

5. Ant-Clique-ness and player retention. Everquest is a social game, demented and sad, but social :). I leveled from 19-25 in lake rath, 95% of the time alone in the zone, the other 5% it was some cleric and friends in zone who wouldnt respond to me for fear that i'd ask for a res. I probably would have quit if it was not for ooc. I also have had alot of peeps send me tells for grps because I sounded like I knew what I was talking about in OOC, a few times that grp was me and 5 peeps who were in a guild together. I doubt if I would have that grp if it were not for ooc.

Well that is my take, and I'm glad to defend it or amend it based on actual facts or intelligent discussion. For example, if you are the type of person who turns off the cursing filter, then complains about cursing, I do not need to hear your opinion.
