View Full Version : Merchants: alchemy vendors wrong

Alchemy vendors need fix asap.

The two alchemy vendors in Oggok have the wrong inventories for alchemy ingredients. They should have the basic inventories of Dargon and Spirita in Halas.

The two alchemy vendors in Grobb have duplicate inventories of each other for alchemy ingredients. They should have two different inventories, the same basic inventories of Dargon and Spirita in Halas.

Also, the troll basic potion merchant in Grobb is missing generic herbs and potions.

Right now only the Barbarian shamans have the ability to skill up alchemy correctly, giving them an unfair advantage over their evil counterparts.

please post proof of this, no offense but we would be changing things 100 times over if we posted every report

Exactly what proof would you need, and what exactly is the basis for the vendor inventories as they now stand? As they are now, certain alchemy ingredients are only sold by the barbarian vendors in Halas, and not at all in Oggok or Grobb. In classic, because of potential faction problems, both Grobb and Oggok had complete alchemy vendors. They do not have them, on our server.

Here's some of the missing herbs for the evil side:

Mugwart
Yebamante
Reucoat
Sticklewort
Bistort
Boneset
Burdock Root
Vox's Dust
Eyebright
Sea Spirit
Stinging Nettle
Damiana
Horehound
Vetiver Root
Bugbane
Feverfew
Woundwort

Do you honestly believe that evil shamans could not obtain complete ingredients in classic? That only barbarians had access to them?

Sites like Allakhazam no longer have merchant inventories for the original alchemy recipes, they don't even have the original recipes listed any more, only the extinct potions. What sort of proof do you need to provide evil races with the inventory they had in classic, and how can I hope to find you your proof? I'm at a bit of a loss here as to what you will want, in order to feel justified in making a simple vendor inventory change?

I've tried skilling up alchemy but I can't do a single combine because all of the recipes require things that aren't sold in grobb. It's true that the only 2 alchemy merchants in grobb sell the exact same things.

It would be wonderful if this archive of tradeskill supplies was accurate, but it is not.

Let us suppose that it is, indeed, accurate. If so, then the alchemy vendors in Halas need to have the listed ingredients removed, because this EQTraders archive site shows that these ingredients are not in the merchant inventories in Halas. The vendors in Halas are selling these ingredients on our server, but according to this archive, they should not be. So let us remove them, so that nobody on the server can complete key alchemy recipes, instead of letting only barbarians be able to do them.

Let us suppose that it is inaccurate. This means that the vendors in Halas are ok to be selling ingredients for the recipes from the Letters of Jonas (the in-game instruction and recipe books for Alchemy, sold by the alchemy vendors). It would therefore be ok that Shamans be able to complete the recipes given in our instructions, in game. It would also mean, therefore, that these ingredients should be added to the vendors in Grobb and Oggok, otherwise the barbarians will be the only ones who can do complete alchemy.

I wish there were accurate websites that still listed the old alchemy recipes and ingredients, but nobody has yet brought one to my attention.

It's a simple fix to make sure the inventories are identical in each city, so that players who want to proceed with alchemy can at least have a chance to blow their money on trying it.

Pretty sure what he meant was provide specifics, so we can change it. Personally, I know nothing about old alchemy.. and had to research it as much as I could. Had open threads about it for a while for beta, blah blah. :p When you guys come along that actually know these specifics, its just a matter of posting them.

Here are some of the links I used for old alchemy.

Maybe take a look over those, or links from them? I wanted this fixed prior to launch, but I couldn't get any help with it. Will replace vendors with similar merchant lists if that is still the best course of action. Waiting for you on this one, emubird.

Thank you for these links, but I am afraid it's the same problem all over again. I had been able to find each of these links online, but none of them are accurate/complete. They do provide some useful information, however, for the old combines, although again, some are inaccurate.

If we take any of these guides as accurate/complete, then our server currently has alchemy vendors selling the wrong items. The vendors in Halas are selling all the herbs needed for alchemy on our server, but none of these old archives list them as such. I guess these archives would necessitate removal of said herbs, but I don't believe that would be correct from classic. In my opinion, we should leave the ingredients on the vendors in Halas, and put the missing ones on the appropriate vendors in Oggok and Grobb.

One thing that is of note from The Shaman's Crucible link: Grobb and Halas are listed as having had the exact same alchemy vendor inventories, and they were indeed the same in classic.

I would suggest using Allakhazam here

http://everquest.allakhazam.com/dyn/items/shampot.html

for potions and their effects. You need to sift through the list to locate the old classic potions, but they are all there.
These items all have listed lucy effects, and you can verify their existences from the extinct potions listing. For some reason, the old archived sites seem to have used the same incorrect effects listings from EQTraders.

Also, some of the old archived sites list recipes as being 'bugged' or Did Not Combine. All of the potions did, indeed, combine, as evidenced by the item lists on alla. I would have to go over the list in more detail to help more, but two examples:

Potion of Somber Origins = rat ears + alkanet root
> as I remember, for a time, there was an herb called 'alkanet', as well as one called 'alkanet root'; alkanet had no use. Alkanet root was required for the combine to work, and it did work.

Potion of Troll's Essence = faerie wing + yebamante
> again, there were at least two different wings, something like 'faerie wing' and 'fairy wing'. Only one of them would work for the combine, but it did work.

If you want me to go over alchemy lists in more detail, I can do so, with regard to recipes and ingredients; but I think, apart from the missing vendored ingredients in the evil cities, and a few missing recipes, that things on the server are mostly correct.

Wenai, while you're at it, can you fix the brewing merchants in Kaladim? I'm making a separate thread for them. Even though you've assumed the identity of the Faceless One, please keep an eye out for it.

The troll merchants still don't have all the correct alchemy supplies. Look at the merchants in halas: Dargon and Spirita. They have many more herbs than the trolls have. They are both standing to right of hte shaman guild in halas. even if hte ogres have them, that is no good to trolls becauses as a troll shaman of inny, oggres won't sell to me, that might be a faction issue, i don't know as i never played troll in classic. I will compile a complete list of herbs and I will also break it down by vendors that i can find, and i'll post it here.

OF coarse since this is an old issue, if this is way things are suposed to be, just say so and i'll drop it. Thanks.

Bump
The two Alchemy vendors in Grobb have the same components. They are missing Many things they should have. My troll shaman can not do Alchemy atm because he can not purchase the required components in Grobb (Missing Items) or Oggok (dubious faction as follower of Innoruuk). Please fix this. Also Grobbs
Merchant Raztara is supposed to have Cloudy potions. Thanks!
