There are no class forums.
However:
We can make private groups within these forums.
I just made one: Any Port In A Storm (http://www.project1999.org/forums/group.php?groupid=16)
This is going to be a privately held (by me) Rogue class discussion forum that anyone can join. Although this group will only be for the discussion of rogues, you don't have to be a rogue to join. You do need to know one who likes you however, as non-rogue mains who I don't know will need recommendations before I invite them (if you're my friend, I will "recommend" and invite you).
Other people can make other groups and stuff.. This doesn't need to be the only rogue group, and certainly other classes can band together and make new groups.. This one will be held by me and moderated to give what *I* consider to be good information to rogues of all experience and skill levels. Any posts or posters who troll hard will be removed.
Thank you, drive through.

What's the purpose of making it private?
p.s. we're friends, right?

Private so that some jackasses can't come in and trollololol all over the group.
I have no idea who you are, but we can be friends if you're not a doucher.

OK I guess there is no way to make the posts non-private, which is actually better.. that way anyone can see the information, but only rogue mains and people who are recommended for their knowledge can post..

OK this is for people who are serious about rogue stuff. If you don't have something to contribute to rogue information dissemination and conversation, you have no need to belong to the group. You can just read the information.
If you want to be a part of this rogue community and share your gear and stats, tips, etc., then by all means ask to join.
This group is not for my friends, it's for people who have something to contribute. If you happen to be both, then you don't need a recommend.
Quit asking if you're my friend. If you need to ask, you're not my friend.

This is why you can't join the group.

There are few people who are more against the idea of class-specific subforums than me. Wouldn't this idea be much more efficient if you just had a couple of good articles written by pro rogues posted to the p99 wiki?

I took a cursory glance at your post history... what was the last productive contribution you've made to this forum? I can't seem to find anything.

No. You can have good articles written by pros, but they may not include the info that a beginner would be most interested in. Or one pro could write what he feels is best while another writes something different, and you can't have a discussion about which is better on a wiki.
If there was a shaman forums, or at least a priest archetype forums, I know that I would post there with thoughts and questions that I don't feel warrant posting in general. I'd post a guide for breaking X camp solo at level Y. I'd post where to go hunt for gear upgrades. I'd post asking where to hunt at level Z. I'd post questioning the benefits of Canni II over Canni I and when to use which.
Class specific forums would see less use than Server Chat, but in my opinion that'd be a good thing as information would be more visible. If I posted any of the above in server, they'd be on page 3 in a couple days. In a class forums they'd stick around longer for people to see, debate, and comment.
There are a lot of casual gamers that play on P99, and many even read the forums too but never bother to do more than lurk. Class forums have the feel of a smaller community that will draw out more posters.
In the end though, what is the harm in having a class or archetype forum section? Don't click on it if you don't care about what's inside.

There's not much to rogues, but I could write an essay on the nuances of crowd controlling as an enchanter, and I'm sure many enchanters would disagree with some of my methods.

Questions and discussion are not one way like a published article. Also take a look at what I have set up. I'm envisioning a min/max exchange for those of us who like to game that way. It is more interactive than telling people what to do.

List of known issues being worked on + class forums = it's perfect.
That said, Nilbog is very good about letting us know what's being worked on and when, it would just be nice to have just a little more transparency on such things without having to forum sift.

I totally just added that..
Great idea.
Shit looks like a ghost town right now.. the buildings are all there, but no people.
Whatever, I will keep making it better whether or not real rogues join.

b/c i have no friends. this is already established.
I've had a bunch of trolls ask to join, and have so far ignored them.
Again, if you're a known rogue to the community, you can join and post. If you're NOT, then you should have a rogue recommend you because of your knowledge. If your name is Tiggles, I need to know your story.
I don't mind being alone in my group, it's my own pet project at this point. If it ever helps even one person, it will have been worth it. If not, whatever.

I contribute productively by being awesome, posting ponies, and not having a terrible forum name. Sorry you're still sad about me disagreeing with your poorly formed holo name change arguments!
Glitch confirmed loved by the community.
anyways, HBB, I'll be impressed if this gets off the ground. It just seems like the forum group format is a little too restrictive for this kind of thing, but if you can have an easily accessible database of good class advice, go for it!

I care more about the debate than the issues in most cases - I have nothing but respect for those who have been approaching the issue civilly, and with well-formed logical arguments; however, your apparent debate skills are quite poor. You would have been better off resorting to your typical inane nonsensical posting rather than trying to approach the topic somewhat seriously as you did. With that said, I don't hold it against you. It's like being angry at shit for smelling terrible.
More pertinently, the only coherent criticism you've ever presented toward class discussion subforums is that there would be a lot of redundant information. Pretty much every single post on this forum is redundant, including every post you've ever made. What's the harm in adding a few subforums?

lololol, k. I'm not going to argue with someone who googled "debate strategies" to try to look cool online.
Also trying to veer off-topic is a poor debate strategy! idk if your google search covered that. My stance in this thread is clearly that a professional, well-organized, easily accessible database of good articles (probably posted on the wiki) is more effective than a disorganized open discussion forum.
HBB's idea is like a hybrid of the two atm. Would you like to add anything, president of the debate club? Or are you too busy browsing my post history?

I am going to moderate my group with an iron fist. There will be no trolling and no disorganization.
I was referring more to the inaccessible element. If someone comes along and says "Hey, I want to be a good rogue, where do I start?",
it's a lot easier to say "Oh, p99s top rogues wrote a bunch of good articles for being the best classic rogue, just type "rogue" into the p99 wiki and it's all right there"
than saying "Oh yea, this guy Hasbinbad has some group on the forums for good rogues, I forget the name of it, but send him a PM, then individually PM his expert rogue friends for further advice on what's not covered"
If I was doing this, I would probably use this to gather all of the necessary information together and subject it to peer review, and then post the results to the wiki, including a FAQ, tips/tricks, group role, etc. I mean, we have that wiki, why not use it? ;p

They steal my words at the wiki without permission anyway, why would they stop now? I'm sure pertinent infoz will get to the wiki whether I'm a part of it or not. Quit being such a negative nancy. The group is for discussion and the sharing of information pertaining to each character directly, and not about a guide. If you don't like it, u can sit on my pony pony funstick.
