I was drinking this in Ireland last week! Along with lots and lots of Guinness. Kilkenny was a nice change up though, I really like it. Has a dry taste sort of like Boddingtons.

So if you're a beer lover, you're familar with Founders brewery. They, in the Beer world, are truely "top shelf". Founder's has 3 Seasonal Beers, 1 of which is available at my local liquor store!

Since beer is totally gross, I judge them based off of their label design as opposed to taste. This one takes the cake. Sorry 4 blur, didn't have a tripod.

Bump.
I bottle 5 gallons of this tonight after I get home from playin pool and the sorts:
6lb light malt extract (light base)
5 oz chocolate malt (flavor, color)
8 oz dextrin malt (body)
8 oz 6-row american malt (flavor, lightness)
1lb crystal 60l (caramel flavor)
2 oz east kent golding and 3 oz fuggle hops (meld well together, offers a mellow earth flavor)
whitbread english ale yeast (slightly fruity but lets the malts do the talking)
Overboard on malts? Perhaps. It's so cheap to buy grains that I'm not concerned, just more interested in the outcome.

It's totally badass to see my hometown hero getting some love! Founder's Kentucky Breakfast Stout is pretty much the only dark beer I'm willing to drink.
http://www.theperfectlyhappyman.com/uploads/founders-kentucky-breakfast-stout.jpg
Most stouts/porters are flavor overload for me (I figure that sort of thing will become more agreeable to me as I get older). If you're into IPAs like I am try out Founder's Double Trouble sometime - it's the bee's knees.

It's also funny (and awesome) that the two cities I consider myself to be from both have badass motherfucking breweries. Bell's Two Hearted ale is my comfort in a troubled world, ahhhhh - probably the greatest beer ever.

I've been sitting here enjoying a Founder's Centennial IPA today with some broiled chicken and penne alfredo, listening to Deere in Headlights 001.

Right now: Brewing a Christmas Ale.
Spicy ginger and nutmeg start with a sweet honey and orange peel finish, all with an undertone of spicy pine and clover. Based off of a traditional wassail recipe. This beer is expected to be consumed at slightly below room temperature to satisfy the seasonal tongue and also keep you toasty warm. ABV hopefully in the 7% range.
Next on the list: a spiced bourbon stout. Light chocolate stout with oak spicing alongside a black pepper and Kentucky bourbon flavour. Vanilla note finishes. Also expected to be a room-warm beer for those winter months. Expected ABV in the 6-7% range. It might end up higher~

Estimated ABV of the Christmas Ale: registered 1.054G. If everything ferments correctly I'm expecting 7.3%. The yeast should hold out till the end so this is going to be awesome!
Current smell of apartment: faint fuck-your-nose-up ginger and nutmeg. Also biscuity yeast. om nom.

Just popped open some bottles of a delicious winter ale i brewed a few weeks back. The freshly poured head is the PERFECT amount. I'm bottling my smoked chocolate porter tomorrow. Expecting a HIGH gravity ale out of that one.
