Yeah, I know, there are a million race questions in the forum but I haven't found any wizard race ones so...
Advantages and disadvantages or each wizard race?
I like erudites and gnomes.
Do erudites have any disadvantage, apart from being blind?
Cheers

The blindness you speak of is not really present on this server that allows GAMMA settings in the options. By end-game, its easy for all wizard races to reach the soft cap of 200INT. Dark elves are KOS to most good races, but this is offset by their racial HIDE. While not amazing, hide will allow you to become invis to both living and dead mobs at the same time, without a cast time (assuming it doesn't fail) for indefinite period of time (while stationary). Also, wizards apparantly do not get IVU until Velious. Gnomes, on the other hand, get the tinkering ability, for whatever that is worth.
TL;DR: Pick wizard based on the factions you care about dealing with if you are a min/maxer, pick the race you like looking at for 60 levels if you want to enjoy your character.

Ya know,I would think Eurdites would be really good because they're more so of a neutral race and plus they have pretty high starting INT. Best of luck! :P
The best wizard race is Ogre because it doesn't let you roll a terrible class like a wizard.

The only race that has anything really useful as a wizard is dark-elf. Racial hide is pretty handy for those long med breaks between kills, it allows you to safely tab out and peruse the internets. All the wizard races have almost the same stats except for humans.

LOL. I don't like wizards on Live but I'm going to try one here.

I know about hide, my enchanters (on live and here) are dark elves, which is why I want a different race.
I can't stand high elves and I don't like humans.
Which leaves me gnomes or erudites, and that's why I want to try one of those.
If the blindness doesn't make any difference, I guess that all comes to looks (I don't do tradeskills).
Mmmmh. Erudite seems to rock my boat (despite the fact that I created a gnome wiz and took him to 4 by testing how much exp do 16 cb belts give).
Are agnostic erudites OK in evil cities?

I'm not a min-maxer, that's why I want to know if there are any major advantage/disadvantage to the choices. Faction wise, I don't want a dark elf without illusions and, ideally, I'd like a "neutral" race.
I like the looks of both but I play in 1st person all the time, so that really doesn't make much difference.

Pick Sol Ro. Always pick Sol Ro.

Why? Sorry, I know nothing of factions and, specially, of religions in EQ.
Pick Sol Ro. Always pick Sol Ro.

Sol Ro is the Wizard specific deity, and I expect this ring (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=4988) to make it into the game with the Kunark cultural at some point.

That's a very good reason, thanks :)

Play what you want. Race isn't going to matter long-term. The difference in mana pool is minor, and with the right gear pretty much null and void no matter what race you choose.
Skill > Gear (at least until PoP lol).

Dark Elf Hide is pretty nice if you want to afk med between quads without fear of some train or wandering mob... It's also nice that Dark Elf wizards can easily grab their own hatestones.
But yeah, it really doesn't matter much at all.
