Does cleric get bash..
not too sure.. been ages since i played original eq...
i played on the "progression server" for a few months before i found out about this place...
but i dont seem to be able to bash yet..
is there a level requirement for it or do clerics just not get it?

I'm not positive because i've never played a cleric but i dont think they get it

IIRC only tank classes get bash, big races get slam as an alternative.

I don't see it on the wiki, might have been a Luclin/PoP era thing when they made clerics kind of self sufficient

Yes they do. Level 50 required.

Cleric gets it in Luclin at 25.

Cleric gets it in Luclin at 25.
This, so clerics won't be able to bash on p99.

Slam runs off Bash skill.

Hmmm, could have sworn those slams were almost non-existent in dmg. I know they were connected in some ways.
If you say so. My memory is a bit rough on that side of things.

I didn't play a melee enough in classic classic (mained shaman and an alt enchanter) to know if Slam would consistently do 1 damage but I know on Project 1999 Slam will skillup your bash even if you don't have a shield, and that increased Bash skill makes your Slam do damage comparable to Kick.

I do recall slam increasing your bash skill. Thought there was a difference but again it could have been placebo mixed with fuzzy memory.
If a knight can slam to kick levels of dmg the ogre/troll vs small sk debate is sealed for me. Again, off topic (apologies) but interesting. Thx Mardur.

Yes, slam/bash eventually does kick damage, and then further down the road can out do kick damage. It is based off of skill and shield ac.
The large race knight can bash without swapping on a shield, and ogre still has frontal stun immunity.
ETA: Also, bash has a higher skill cap than kick for warriors. 240vs210 iirc.

Earlier on this server, clerics could in fact bash. It was not classic. It was removed.

The haste effect from the clicky initiate symbol lasts 2 seconds. It sounds really cool on paper, but was pretty darned useless in practice. Cleric bash wasn't really all about melee damage. It was much more about interrupting casters. Yes, it added a little extra dps, but its main effect was that it saved us mana by interrupting casters. It meant we had to heal less often.
Our stun spells are pretty mana intensive and are resisted a lot, but landing one just as the mob is engaged always saves mana because the fight doesn't last as long, and we don't have to cast as many heals.
Bash was a big deal for a lot of Clerics. We fought long and hard to get SOE to finally give us that skill. Further self sufficiency arrived later after so many old Clerics had quit the game due to the sheer boredom of the CHeal chain gang, and their toons turned into bots. I only played a Cleric, and truly love the class, but I do miss all of the added utility and self sufficiency that was added later.
A Cleric wielding the Luclin DA Hammer with his self proc'ing DS was a sight to behold. I was SO close to being able to solo Vindi when I quit playing about 4 1/2 years ago. So very, very close...
So says one of the crazy ex-battle Clerics from Live.

yah.. i found myself stunning monsters that CH or cast mean spells every once in a while with spells.. but bash is nice for back up if low on mana.

It really is amazing how many clerics leave raiding guilds and become bots in Velious.
Doubly bad for people like me who mained a useless class (shaman) on a fight like AoW and were made to log in a few clerics who quit/MIAed.

yah.. was kind of the reason i quit the progression server and came here heh...
i was cleric main and i didn't have like 6 accounts to box... so id go raid and help kill stuff... but if i need help on something everybody would be like
"why don't you have a box account"!!

I played one toon, and one toon only. My Cleric. He was there for everyone else's needs from grouping, to quests, to raids, and yet trying to get a group of people together to help me turn in keys was like pulling teeth. So yeah, I totally feel ya'. Those soloing tools made things a whole lot more fun for me when other folks had other things to do. Yeah, so they may not be "classic", but with a low server population and a ban on boxing, it might not necessarily be a bad thing to bring the Cleric self DS and soloing utility spell lines to P1999. The last thing you want is to have the Clerics quitting on a low population server just as Velious is hitting, or soon thereafter.
